June was filled with several smartphone launches, but it served as a training wheel to prepare us for what is about to come in July. Brands have already geared up to welcome the first week of July with high-octane unveilings. Some of them have been the talk of the town, even before their debut. One of these upcoming smartphones may just redefine the budding foldable category. So, let’s check them out.
Nothing Phone (3)
Nothing has been a head-turner smartphone company since its inception. And it aims to elevate its momentum by unveiling the buzz-worthy Phone (3) on 1 July. As Carl Pei hinted, this smartphone will be a true flagship from the Nothing brand. Ahead of the launch, the brand has disclosed some key information about the specifications. It has already been revealed that the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 processor has been assigned to manage the Phone (3)’s performance.
Nothing will supersede the Glyph Interface with the all-new Glyph Matrix on this upcoming phone, similar to the AniMe Vision on the Asus ROG Phone 9 Pro. It is essentially a circular module placed at the top-right corner of its rear side. It is said to display pixel-level animations, symbolic visuals, and customised lighting synced with user actions and sound.
The handset is also confirmed to feature a 50-megapixel periscope camera. The remaining specifications are still unknown. However, the team at 91Mobiles dug a little deeper into certification websites and discovered that the Phone (3) may boast a 5,150mAh battery with support for 65W charging. Its connectivity features include 5G, triple-band Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth, and NFC.
Honor Magic V5
Honor is the next brand to unveil a smartphone on July 2. The smartphone in question is the Magic V5, one of its most ambitious folding smartphones. The company has claimed it to be the world’s thinnest and lightest foldable ever launched. It is advertised to ship with advanced on-device AI capabilities and offer PC-level productivity.
The Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite SoC is reportedly the processor of choice for the Magic V5. Most importantly, the brand will utilise its Leading Version edition on this smartphone. Setting everything aside, the foldable is expected to feature a 7.95-inch 2K LTPO main display and a 6.45-inch cover screen. Moreover, it may house a 6,100mAh silicon-carbon battery.
OPPO Reno 14 Series
OPPO is gearing up to launch the 14th edition of its Reno series in India on July 3. Both the Reno 14 and Reno 14 Pro are likely to launch on this date. The Reno 14 Pro is confirmed to be the first phone in India to use the all-new MediaTek Dimensity 8450 chipset. Both phones will be available in Pearl White, Forest Green, and Titanium Grey colour options. Their Pearl White variants are said to feature the industry’s first OPPO Velvet Glass, paired with a one-piece, sculpted glass back. An aerospace-grade aluminium frame will bolster their structure.
Since the phones were already launched in China a few weeks ago, most of their specifications are now known. The MediaTek Dimensity 8350 Processor powers the standard Reno 14. On the optics front, the Reno 14 China variant features a 50-megapixel primary camera with OIS, a 50-megapixel 3.5x telephoto lens, and an 8-megapixel ultra-wide lens. While the Reno 14 Pro features the same primary and telephoto cameras, it offers a bigger 50-megapixel ultra-wide-angle lens.
The Reno 14 Pro is confirmed to sport a 6.83-inch 1.5K OLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate and 1,200 nits of peak brightness. On the other hand, the Reno 14 features a 6.59-inch display with support for a 120Hz refresh rate.
The Reno 14 packs in a 6,000mAh battery, while the Reno 14 Pro is powered by a slightly larger 6,200mAh battery.
Tecno Pova 7 Series
Tecno is all set to launch the Pova 7 series on July 4. The brand aims to make this series a bold, design-first smartphone line geared for tech enthusiasts and high-performance users.
Through various marketing materials, the Pova 7 is revealed to feature a Delta Light Interface—a dynamic, multifunctional LED design inspired by the delta symbol (Δ). This striking aesthetic signifies change and evolution. It lights up in response to actions, such as volume changes, music playback, and notifications.
Recently, the Pova 7 was discovered on Geekbench, suggesting that it could feature the MediaTek Dimensity 7300 processor.
By the way, Tecno is reportedly keen on expanding the Pova 7 series this year, with models like the POVA 7 Pro and POVA 7 Pro+.
