Apple unveiled its latest products at the Glowtime event at Apple Park in Cupertino, California. Apple showcased the new iPhone 16 series, along with the new Apple Watch Series 10 and the AirPods 4. The company also announced improvements and updates to Apple Watch Ultra 2, AirPods Pro 2, and an updated AirPods Max. Here are all the announcements Apple made at the Apple Event.
Apple Glow Time Event Announcements
iPhone 16 and 16 Plus
Apple has officially launched the iPhone 16 and the iPhone 16 Plus, which come with an all-new design and colourways. Apple added the Action Button to iPhone 16, which was only available on the Pro models from last year.
The iPhone 16 has a 6.1-inch display while the iPhone 16 Plus has a 6.7-inch display. Both displays can go up to 2,000 nits in peak brightness. iPhone 16 and 16 Plus are available in 5 vibrant colours.
The iPhone 16 and the 16 Plus are powered by Apple A18 Bionic silicon, which has a 6-core CPU and a 5-core GPU, and a new 16-core neural engine powering Apple Intelligence. Apple says iPhone 16 is 30% faster than its predecessor.
The phones feature the same dual camera setup at the back, featuring a 48MP primary camera and a 48MP 2X telephoto camera. The iPhone 16 comes with a new Camera Control button, which can control various camera functionalities. A light press pulls up different camera functions like zoom, change exposure and more. It is also supported in third-party apps like Snapchat.
The iPhone 16 models also come with Visual Intelligence, a Google Lens-like feature that lets you find anything you point the camera at and more.
The iPhone 16 starts at Rs 79,900 and iPhone 16 Plus at Rs 89,900. Pre-orders for the phone start on September 13, while sales will start on September 20.
iPhone 16 Pro and 16 Pro Max
The new iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max models have a similar design, but are slightly bigger, thanks to bigger displays. The iPhone 16 Pro has a 6.3-inch display (up from 6.1 inches) while iPhone 16 Pro Max has a 6.9-inch (up from 6.7 inches) display.
The iPhone 16 Pro is built with Grade 5 Titanium, lighter than stainless steel. Both phones are available in 4 colours – Darker Black, White Titanium, Natural Titanium and Desert Titanium.
The new Apple A18 Pro chip powers the iPhone 16 Pro and the 16 Pro Max. It has a 6-core CPU, 6-core GPU and a 16-core neural engine.
The iPhone 16 Pro has a new 48MP Fusion camera as the primary camera, a 48MP Ultrawide camera and a 12MP 5X Telephoto camera. The main camera can now capture 4K 120fps slow-motion videos. Apple also announced better audio recording capabilities for the camera, featuring four studio-quality mics. The iPhone 16 Pro and the 16 Pro Max also get the new Camera Control button.
Both Pro models support Qi2 wireless charging and the new official MagSafe cases will support the new camera control button. The iPhone 16 Pro is priced at Rs 1,19,900 and the iPhone 16 Pro Max is priced at Rs 1,44,900. The pre-orders start on September 13, and the sales start on September 20.
Apple Watch Series 10
The Apple Watch Series 10 has the biggest display ever, which is 30% larger than the Apple Watch Series 9 and even slightly bigger than the Apple Watch Ultra. The wide-angle OLED display is 40% brighter than the previous generation.
The Apple Watch Series 10 is also the slimmest Apple Watch yet, measuring 9.4mm thick. It is available in Jet Black, Aluminium and Titanium finishes.
It is powered by the new Apple S10 chipset, which powers the Apple Intelligence features it ships with. Apple Watch Series 10 can now play media directly on the watch, using the in-built speaker. The Series 10 now has faster charging, Apple says the watch charges up to 80% of charge in 30 minutes. Apple Watch Series 10 starts at Rs 46,900 while the Cellular variant starts at Rs 56,900.
Apple Watch Ultra 2 Improvements
Apple did not launch the next generation of Apple Watch Ultra but announced improvements to the Apple Watch Ultra 2, including a new colour, new bands and a new watch face.
Apple Watch Ultra 2 now has a stunning new finish – Stain Black. Apple is also releasing new colours for Trail Loop, Alpine Loop and Ocean Band. Hermes is also launching a new band for Ultra 2, which sits well with an exclusive Hermes Watch Face for the watch.
AirPods 4
The AirPods 4 comes in two variants; a standard one and the one with Active Noise Cancellation, Transparency Mode, Adaptive Audio and Conversation Awareness. These features were previously available only on AirPods Pro.
The AirPods 4 has a new design, which Apple says now better fits more people's ears. Also, Apple has updated the audio quality. The AirPods 4 is powered by Apple H2 silicon. AirPods 4 is priced at Rs 12,900 for the base variant and Rs 17,900 for the variant with noise cancellation.
Updated AirPods Max
Apple hasn’t updated the AirPods Max but announced new colours, including, midnight, starlight, blue, orange, and purple. The new AirPods Max now comes with a USB Type C port.
Other than this, the features remain the same as that of the original AirPods Max. The new headphones are priced at Rs 59,990.
Apple has also announced that the Apple Intelligence features will be available for the iPhone 16 series and the iPhone 15 Pro models in beta, starting next month. These will also reach the M1 iPads and Macs in US English. More languages will be added next year. iOS 18 will be available for all on September 18.
