The Google Gemini iOS app has been spotted on the App Store. Since its launch, Gemini has been available only as an add-on feature in the Google app. We may finally see a standalone Gemini app for iOS making it easier for Apple users to access the AI-powered chatbot. Here are the details.
Google Gemini App for iOS
The Google Gemini iOS app was released on the App Store last week with the version number 1.2024.4330807. However, the app has only been available in select regions, such as the Philippines. It provides access to all features of the Gemini AI chatbot, including functions like AI image generation, voice conversations, language translation, and more.
The Gemini app for Android is currently replacing the Google Assistant. The iOS version will serve as an alternative to Apple’s Siri. As per the description on the App Store, the app will offer Gemini Live, which will allow users to have real-time conversations with the chatbot. It can also provide contextual responses based on the topic of discussion, even if additional information is not provided.
This will be a huge upgrade for Apple users as the Gemini Live feature is currently unavailable in the basic Gemini version integrated into the Google app. It will also become the fourth AI-powered chatbot app for iOS, after OpenAI’s ChatGPT, Anthropic’s Claude, and Perplexity AI.
Google has not shared any official details of the Gemini iOS app, and a launch timeline is still awaited. The app can only be accessed by some users in the Philippines and is not available for download in India. Interested users can change the region of their Apple account to the Philippines and try to get an early look at the Gemini iOS app.
After the official release, the Gemini app will be available for iPhones and iPads. It will support all modern Gemini AI models and the Premium AI subscription. However, the subscription charges could be higher on Apple devices compared to Android and web pricing, just like every other paid service from Google.
