Google has announced that the first Made in India Google Pixel 8 devices have started rolling off the production lines. The search engine giant also mentioned and thanked the partnership with Ashwini Vaishnaw, India’s Minister for Electronics and Information Technology.

The Pixel 8 was earlier expected to enter production in Q2 this year. The new move comes as the Government of India has been pushing brands to start manufacturing in India. This can also help the brand expand its footprint in the country. It remains to be seen how this will impact users and whether or not the price of the Pixel 8 will go down.

Google is yet to confirm the local manufacturing partners in the country. To recall, a report from ET revealed that Google is partnering with Dixon Technologies to manufacture Pixel smartphones in India.

The company aims to manufacture over 1,00,000 units per month in India. Padget Electronics, a wholly owned subsidiary of Dixon Technologies, is expected to manufacture Pixel smartphones in India. The company has reportedly signed an agreement with Compal Electronics, the global manufacturing partner for Google products. Google also aims to ship over 10 million units in 2024 in the country.
