It’s not been too long since the Honor announced the launch of two new devices under its Honor ‘Play’ sub-category. The company, if you recall, had launched the Honor Play 4T and the Honor Play 4T Pro a little over a month ago – in the second week of April. Not content with just the two of these, thanks to a recent listing on JD.com, we know that Honor is working on two new Honor Play devices, which could see officialdom before the end of June 2020. These new handsets reportedly go by the Honor Play 4 and the Honor Play 4 Pro moniker. If the company does stick to this naming scheme, we are sure things will get confusing even for the most ardent of Honor fanboys.
Anyway, the reason you are having to read this Honor Play 4 Pro-related article today is because of a recent TENAA listing where the key specifications of the Honor Play 4 Pro were listed. This was later followed by a Weibo post by popular Chinese leakster Digital Chat station, who revealed the rest of the specifications of the phone. The device has also made an appearance on the website of Chiese regulatory body MIIT. Take a look at the images below. If all that wasn’t enough, as we were drafting this article, the Honor Play 4 Pro made its first-ever appearance on Geekbench.
Additionally, we have also managed to find that the Honor Play4 Pro’s little brother, the Honor Play 4 has also made an appearance on the Bluetooth SIG website.
Going by the screenshots above, we can deduce that the Honor Play 4 Pro will be a 5G capable handset that will get an FHD+ display that measures 6.57-inches across. The listing also reveals that the device comes powered by a 4200mAh battery and that it shall run Android 10 at launch (with Huawei Mobile Services, of course). The dimensions of the phone are: 162.7 × 75.8 × 8.9 (mm).
Meanwhile, Digital Chat Station has revealed that the Honor Play 4 Pro will use Huawei’s flagship-grade Kirin 990 SoC. This has also been confirmed following the Geekbench listing. From the leaked images in JD.com, we already know that the phone features a dual punch hole camera (32MP +8MP) at the front and a dual-camera setup at the rear – which at this time is believed to consist of a 40MP + 8MP setup.
Update: Here are the images posted on TENAA
The 4200mAh battery reportedly supports 40W fast charging as well. Apart from these, DCS also goes on to reveal that the Honor Play 4 Pro gets a side-mounted fingerprint scanner – something which seems to be gaining in popularity at least in the Chinese market.
