CES 2024: Infinix’s E-Color Shift Tech Will Let Users Customise Smartphone’s Rear Panel

Infinix is aiming to allow users to customise their smartphone's rear panel with its E-Colour Shift technology.

Highlights
  • Infinix’s E-Color Shift technology features E-Ink Prism 3, developed by E-Ink.
  • This new technology will allow users to customise their smartphone’s rear panel.
  • The company says is exploring possibilities to enable up to 60 customisable areas.

At the ongoing Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2024 Edition, the Chinese smartphone maker – Infinix has unveiled a new E-Colour Shift Technology. The E-Colour Shift technology, developed by the brand, enables rear panels of the smartphones to change and maintain vibrant colors. The company says that the this process doesn’t consume any power.

Infinix is aiming to allow users to customise their smartphone’s rear panel with its E-Colour Shift technology. With this technology, users can display time, mood, and other features in a matrix arrangement on the rear panel of their smartphone. Let us take a closer look at the details.

Infinix’s E-Color Shift Technology Enables Customisation on Smartphones

The technology features E-Ink Prism 3, which uses microstructures that consist of colour particles that carry positive and negative charges. Upon applying different voltages, the electric field within the microstructures changes and this results  in movement of corresponding colour particles and the desired colour is then displayed.

Infinix claims that with the E-Color Shift technology, users will be able to customise their smartphone’s rear panel without worrying about battery, since this technology doesn’t require power. The company says that it is further exploring possibilities through a software application to enable up to 60 customisable areas on the hardware with each area supporting various colours.

Infinix also showcased its AirCharge technology which allows users to charge their devices at up to 7.5W. The AirCharge technology relies on multi-coil magnetic resonance and company’s proprietary adaptive algorithms which enable wireless charging up to 20cm and at 60° angles. The AirCharge technology incorporate protective circuits and uses frequencies below 6.78MHz.

Infinix’s AirCharge technology allows users to conveniently charge their devices during gaming session or watching videos since it doesn’t require a physical connection with the charger.

Infinix also showcased its Extreme-tech Battery technology. This technology address the issue of battery failing in extreme cold condition. Infinix says that in order to tackle the problem, it is using biomimetic electrolyte and fusion solid-state technology in electrodes which allows the batteries to operate without any issue in temperatures up to -40°C.

The technology also allows users to charge the battery in ambient temperatures of -40°C to 60°C. The company claims that the Extreme-Temp Battery ensures smooth performance and endurance in extreme cold environments, which is not possible with lithium-ion batteries.
