Apple has released the iOS 18.1 developer beta update with Apple Intelligence features. These new features are limited to the iPhone 15 Pro and 15 Pro Max. The company has also launched the public beta 2 of iOS 18 for all registered users. Here are the details.
iOS 18.1 Developer Beta with Apple Intelligence
The iOS 18.1 developer beta finally lets iPhone users access the new Apple Intelligence features. Developer beta program users can update the software to the latest version from Settings > General > Software Update.
After updating, users can request access to Apple Intelligence by going to Settings > Apple Intelligence > Join Waitlist. Once the request is approved by Apple, users will be granted access to the new Apple Intelligence features. Note that these functions are limited to the iPhone 15 Pro, iPhone 15 Pro Max, and iPads with M-Silicon processors.
Apple Intelligence will be available for free in India. However, it will not be available in China and the European Union (EU) countries. Here are some top features in the iOS 18.1 developer beta:
- Call recording and call transcription in English and other global languages (Regional Indian languages not supported for transcription yet).
- Rewrite and proofread texts.
- Summarize longer texts like notes, emails, etc.

- Reduce interruptions option for notifications.
- Advanced search features in the Photos app.
iOS 18 Public Beta 2
The latest public beta 2 of iOS 18 emphasises optimization and performance improvements. The list of new features is relatively small, compared to the latest developer beta. Here are the new features:
- Use widgets in dark mode, even if the iPhone is set to light mode.
- Easier access to the control menu in the camera app.
- New design for hidden apps in the app library.
- Improved RCS support (Country dependent).

The iOS 18 public beta 2 is available for all the iPhone XR, the iPhone SE 2nd gen, the iPhone XS series, the iPhone 11 series, the iPhone 12 series, the iPhone 13 series, the iPhone 14 series, and the iPhone 15 series.
