iPhone 16 Offers Best 5G Speeds in India: Report

Highlights
  • The iPhone 16 Series offers better 5G speeds than the Galaxy S24 Series.
  • The iPhone 16 shares the same modem with the Galaxy S24 Ultra.

If you are someone who uses 5G a lot, you should use a device from the latest iPhone 16 Series. As per the latest report from Ookla, the iPhone 16 models offer the best 5G speeds in India, outperforming its predecessors and even Android competitors. Here are the details.

iPhone 16 Models Best for Peak 5G Speeds

Ookla, the company behind Speedtest.net, analysed the data from internet speed tests between September 20 and October 2, a week after the iPhone 16’s retail availability. The data included tests from 11 nations, including India.

According to the report, all the iPhone 16 series models offer the best median 5G speeds for download and upload in India. The speeds are also better compared to the Samsung Galaxy S24 Series models. Being the latest model, the iPhone 16 series beats its last two generations in the same test, without any surprises.

Ookla mentions that this is made possible by the Snapdragon X75 5G modem used on the latest iPhone 16 Series. These median speed calculations are higher than the Galaxy S24 Ultra with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 and the Exynos 2400-powered base models. It is worth noting that the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 uses the same modem as the iPhone 16 Series.

Except for the Philippines, the iPhone 16 modems have delivered better 5G speeds than the Galaxy S24 Series in all regions. This includes India, Taiwan, Belgium, France, Germany, and many other European countries.

Although the differences are not that huge, it is clear that the iPhone 16 models are offering the most stable 5G experience in most parts of the world. While the iPhone 16 is the latest from Apple, it does not use the best modem from Qualcomm as of today. The company has already released the Snapdragon X80 modem, available on the latest Snapdragon 8 Elite processor.

Hence, we can expect the upcoming Galaxy S25 Series, or other phones with the new Qualcomm chip to overcome Apple in the top 5G speeds chart!
