Apple initially aimed for the iPhone 17 Air to be their “ultra-slim model,” but design constraints have prompted a shift in direction. So, we may not see any slim iPhone. Read on to find out what has changed.
iPhone 17 Air Design Adjustments: Here’s Why It’s Happening
A Naver (South Korean online platform) user, yeux1122, has revealed that Apple will not pursue the ultra-slim design for the iPhone 17 Air due to battery limitations.
Earlier rumours indicated that Apple planned to exceed the 6.9mm thickness of the iPhone 6 by using a thinner battery foundation for the iPhone 17 Air. However, the company faced challenges during manufacturing, coupled with high production costs. As a result, the iPhone 17 Air will likely be thicker than 7mm.
iPhone 17 Air: What Will Set It Apart from the Rest?
The iPhone 16 Plus measures 7.8mm in thickness, so if the iPhone 17 Air ends up over 7mm, it won’t mark a major shift in slimness between the two models. This would mean only minor differences in thickness. Given the “Air” name, it’s expected to feel exceptionally light as well—though that remains to be confirmed.
Meanwhile, the iPhone 17 Air is rumoured to include a ProMotion 120Hz display, an upgraded 48MP main camera, and a boost in selfie resolution from 12MP to 24MP.
Will the iPhone 17 Air truly embody its “Air” name, or will it be just another addition to the lineup? Keep an eye on MySmartPrice for the latest updates on the iPhone 17 Air.
