Mediatek has announced the Dimensity 9400+ chipset, which is an upgrade over its flagship Dimensity 9400. The new processor is based on TSMC’s 2nd-gen N3E processor, which makes it more efficient than its predecessor. It also gets a higher clock speed and upgraded AI capabilities. Here’s everything that you should know about the Dimensity 9400+ processor.
MediaTek Dimensity 9400+: What’s New?
The Dimensity 9400+ uses the same all-big core design, featuring 1x Cortex-X925, 3x Cortex-X4 cores, and 4x Cortex-A720 cores. It is based on TSMC’s 2nd-gen N3E 3nm architecture, which is up to 40% more power efficient. The maximum clock speed of this chipset is 3.73GHz, which is a 100MHz upgrade over the Dimensity 9400.
The new chip uses the same 12-core Immortalis-G925 GPU, with support for ray tracing and upscaling. It comes with MediaTek NPU 890 that supports on-device DeepSeek-R1 models, one of the first chips to do so. It can also run SLM and LLM AI models with multi-modal support. This means that the processor can process multiple AI operations simultaneously for faster and more precise results.
MediaTek has introduced a massive upgrade in connectivity. The new chip supports advanced phone-to-phone Bluetooth connections, which gives an effective Bluetooth range of up to 15 kilometres on compatible devices. It also supports 5G download speeds of up to 7 Gbps.
The Dimensity 9400+ comes with MediaTek UltraSave 4.0 technology, which reduces 5G power consumption by up to 18%. When combined with the new TSMC architecture, this processor can offer improved battery efficiency on standby and power usage compared to the Dimensity 9400.
MediaTek says that smartphones with the new Dimensity 9400+ processor will be available in the market starting Q2 2025. Till now, no phone maker has announced or hinted at a new phone with this chipset. We will keep you updated with the same, so stay tuned.
