MediaTek has officially launched its Dimensity 8450 processor. It’s a premium mid-range chip that offers flagship-killer performance, powered by an all-big core CPU design. It features Cortex-A725 cores for the CPU and equips the Mali-G720 MC7 GPU, which enables support for 120fps gaming.
OPPO has also confirmed that the company will launch two phones featuring the Dimensity 8450 chip. This will include a Reno Series and a K-Series device. Here’s everything new announced by MediaTek and OPPO.
MediaTek Dimensity 8450: What’s New?
The Dimensity 8450 features an all-big core design with eight Cortex-A725 cores. MediaTek says that this chip is 30% faster than its competing platforms. It is based on TSMC’s 4nm architecture, which also improves the power efficiency.
This SoC equips the Mali-G720 MC7 GPU with MediaTek HyperEngine technology. It improves the peak performance by 24% and reduces power consumption by up to 42%. It also supports 120fps gaming in select games, but the support may vary by device.
The Dimensity 8450 also has the MediaTek NPU 880, which brings support for on-device generative AI functions. This also enables AI camera features for image processing.
The MediaTek Dimensity 8450 is a 5G-ready chip that supports peak download speeds of up to 5.17 Gbps. It also has improved 5G power efficiency, where the smartphone consumes less battery while running on 5G networks.

OPPO Confirms Two New Phones with Dimensity 8450
OPPO has confirmed that it will soon launch new phones with the Dimensity 8450 in India. Among these, one of them is highly likely to be the OPPO Reno 14 Pro.
The Reno 14 Pro has already launched in China with the Dimensity 8450. It features a 6.83-inch AMOLED screen with a Full HD+ resolution. The device also gets a 50MP primary camera with OIS, a 50MP ultrawide lens, and a 50MP periscope telephoto lens with 3.5x optical zoom. It is powered by a 6200mAh battery with 80W wired and 50W wireless charging.
The specifications of the Indian variant are expected to remain the same. OPPO has begun teasing the launch of the Reno 14 Series in India, although an exact launch date has not been announced.
