The government has launched a new Aadhaar app in a major step towards digital convenience and privacy. The government already has an mAadhaar app, which allows users to manage their Aadhaar details. However, the new app is intended to ‘make Aadhaar verification easier, faster, and more secure.’ Here’s everything you need to know about the latest Aadhaar app launched by the government of India.

New Aadhaar App Launched in Collaboration with UIDAI

The main difference between the new Aadhaar app and the old mAadhaar app is that the former is much more secure than the latter. The latest app combines face ID authentication and artificial intelligence (AI) to bring the digital Aadhaar service to Indian citizens.

According to the post shared by the IT minister, the app uses QR code-based instant verification and real-time face ID for authentication. This will also eliminate the need for Aadhaar users to carry physical cards or photocopies of the same. According to Vaishnaw, this app will make Aadhaar verification as simple as making a UPI payment.

The minister also assures users that the app is 100 per cent digital and secure. The Aadhaar details and data are shareable only with the user’s consent. The app is beta and in the testing phase currently, which means it’s not available on the Play Store or App Store yet. However, we can expect it to roll out to general public soon.
