Nothing Phone (2) is set to launch later this year. The company has confirmed that the Phone (2) launch event will be held in the summer of 2023. Ahead of the official launch, the company has started building hype around the product. Nothing has confirmed that the Phone (2) will feature a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 SoC. The Phone (2)’s choice of SoC will bring significant improvements across the board including battery life, network connectivity, and camera capabilities, among others, according to the company. Now, CEO Carl Pei has revealed some more details about the upcoming Nothing flagship smartphone.

During his interaction with Forbes, Pei revealed the battery specifications of the Phone (2). The new details confirm that the Phone (2) will pack a bigger battery than its predecessor. Pei also revealed the launch timeline of the Phone (2). Let’s take a look at the Nothing Phone (2) specifications, features and other details known so far.

Nothing Phone (2): Launch Details

The Nothing Phone (2) is officially confirmed to launch worldwide in July. The exact launch date of the device has not been revealed yet. Ahead of the launch, Nothing’s CEO has revealed some new details. Pei has confirmed that the upcoming Nothing flagship smartphone will pack a slightly bigger battery than the outgoing model. He revealed that the Phone (1) successor will launch with a 4700mAh battery. The first Nothing smartphone, in comparison, came with a 4500mAh battery.

The charging details of the device have been kept under wraps. It would not be surprising if Nothing launches the device with the same 33W fast charging support that its predecessor came with.

Pei had previously revealed that the Phone (2) will launch with a Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 SoC. When asked about why not going ahead with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, Pei said, “Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 is a proven processor. It has been thoroughly tested and continuously optimised through numerous updates since its introduction a year ago. We prioritise user experience over being first in the specs race. Also, the latest technology comes at a cost which isn’t always justified from a user benefit standpoint. Choosing Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 ensures that Phone (2) remains accessible while delivering a significantly improved experience compared to Phone (1).”

Nothing Phone (2): Specifications Tipped

While Pei has revealed some of the specifications of the upcoming Nothing smartphone, some key details about the camera, display and charging have been kept a secret. There have been reports about the Phone (2) packing up to 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. Considering the company launched the original Nothing Phone (1) with 8GB and 12GB of RAM, it would not be a surprise if the Phone (2) offers the same RAM and storage configuration.

The device is also tipped to sport a 120Hz AMOLED display. The screen size remains unknown but some rumours on the web have claimed that it will feature a 6.55-inch AMOLED panel, which is the same as its predecessor.

The rumour mill has not managed to leak the Nothing Phone (2) camera specifications at the time of writing this. If there is any improvement, it should be over the 50MP main camera and the 50MP ultra-wide camera of the Phone (1). Nothing has, by the way, confirmed that the device will feature support for video recording up to 4K 60fps.
