OPPO announced ColorOS 15 based on Android 15 at the OPPO Developer Conference 2024 held in China. The OPPO Find X8 series smartphones are expected to be the first to come with the new update. Here are the new features the update has introduced.
ColorOS 15: Features
The ColorOS 15 is said to be super light as opposed to its predecessors, which will provide a comfortable experience to users. The operating system also utilises the evolution of AI to increase the efficacy of smartphones. It sports industry-first parallel animation, which allows multiple windows to operate simultaneously.
The system gets new motion effects for smooth animations and system-level optimizations. OPPO claims ColorOS 15 will offer 18% faster app responsiveness and 26% faster app installation process. It also has system-level dynamic cache allocation for managing resources in real time.
The OS gets its version of the Circle to Search feature, which will work on any part of the screen. The integration of the XiaoBu Assistant will help users make use of the assistant for scanning the screen and summarising the information. It can also be used to have natural conversations with queries.
ColorOS 15 will also come with improved image editing AI tools, including AI Eraser, AI Photo Enhancement, and more. Other features include AI Voice Summary, AI Document Management, AI Notes, AI Help Writing, AI De-gare, and more.
The O+ interconnection app will allow OPPO smartphones to seamlessly transfer files to iPhones in less than 10 seconds. Apart from this, the operating system also offers a fresh look with new icons, lighting effects, and more. It also gets a new Aurora engine for system-level rendering and hardware architecture and a Tidal engine for chip-level performance solutions.
ColorOS 15: Rollout Timeline and Eligible Devices
OPPO will start rolling out the operating system to smartphones, starting November 2024 in China. It will be released for the Find X8 series and the OnePlus 13 out of the box. The first batch of smartphones to get the update include:
- OPPO Find X7 series
- OPPO Find N3 series
- OnePlus 12
- OnePlus Ace 3 series
- OnePlus Tablet Pro
