Qualcomm Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 SoC Goes Official: Check Features, Specs and More

Qualcomm has announced the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 mobile platform. It will succeed the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 SoC unveiled in 2024. The chipset has a different architecture in comparison to the flagship Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite SoC. It promises powerful performance, legendary gaming, advanced Gen AI, masterful photography, and top-notch 5G and Wi-Fi 7 connectivity.

Qualcomm Snapdragon 8s Gen 4: Specs

The new Qualcomm chipset with the codename SM8375 is built using TSMC’s 4nm process. It has a new 1+3+2+2 architecture as opposed to the 1+3+4 architecture on the Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 SoC. The new chip has one Kryo Prime (Cortex X4) CPU core at 3.20GHz and three Kryo Performance (Cortex A720) cores at 3.01GHz.

The SM8375 also has two Kryo Performance (Cortex A720) cores at 2.80GHz and another two Kryo Performance (Cortex A720) cores at 2.02GHz. It also integrates the Qualcomm Adreno 835 GPU and Qualcomm Hexagon NPU. The new chip is claimed to offer 31%, 49% and 44% improved CPU, GPU and AI performance.

Qualcomm brings Snapdragon Game Super Resolution 2.0 and Adreno Frame Motion Engine 2.0 into the chipset. It has 2x larger shared memory for AI with multi-model Gen AI support and Sensing Hub for on-device AI features. In terms of connectivity, the Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 uses a 5G Modem-RF system, a FastConnect mobile connectivity system, and Bluetooth 6.0 technology.

The Qualcomm Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 also has a triple AI ISP, limitless segmentation, and Night Vision support. It also brings Qualcomm eXpanded Personal Area Network (XPAN) technology. The other supported features include up to a WQHD+ 144Hz display, 24GB LPDDR5X RAM, UFS 4.0 storage, Quick Charge 5, Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6.0, a 320MP single camer,a and more.

Phones Coming with Snapdragon 8s Gen 4

Qualcomm confirms that the Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 will power the upcoming smartphones from Redmi, iQOO, Xiaomi, OPPO and Meizu. The iQOO Z10 Turbo Pro is expected to be the first smartphone launching with the upcoming chipset.
