Samsung is setting up the stage to expand its A series lineup with the new Galaxy A16. It will succeed the Galaxy A15, which was launched in December last year. Today, our team spotted this upcoming device on the Bluetooth SIG certification website. Here’s everything you need to know about:
Samsung Galaxy A16 on Bluetooth SIG Certification
The Bluetooth SIG certification confirms the device’s name and 5G support, hinting at an imminent global launch. The listing shows multiple model numbers, such as SM-A166B/DS, likely representing the global variant with Dual SIM support. Meanwhile, SM-A166E/DS and SM-A166M/DS point towards the European or Indian markets, and SM-A166O could be the Chinese variant.
Samsung Galaxy A16 on Other Certification Websites
The Galaxy A16 has already made several appearances across various certification platforms. We’ve seen it on sites like 3C, which revealed the device will come with a 4860mAh battery, likely to be marketed as 5000mAh. It has also been spotted on the UK Carrier database and the IMEI certification website.
In addition, Samsung has run Geekbench tests on the Galaxy A16 models. Two versions of the Galaxy A16 5G have surfaced on Geekbench, one likely intended for Asia or Africa, featuring the Exynos 1330 5G chipset, while the other sports the MediaTek Dimensity 6300 chipset.
Interestingly, the Exynos variant outperformed the Dimensity model in Geekbench scores. The Exynos-powered version scored 967 in the single-core test and 1,971 in the multi-core test, while the Dimensity variant managed 514 and 1,464, respectively.
Although the company hasn’t disclosed any pricing details for the Galaxy A16, we anticipate it will be priced similarly to its predecessor, around the Rs 17,000 mark. If that holds true, the device will face competition from models like the CMF Phone 1, iQOO Z9, POCO X6 5G, and others.
