Samsung has started rolling out the OneUI 7 update on the Galaxy S24 Ultra in India. The last-gen flagship has now been upgraded to Android 15. The update brings new Galaxy AI features, faster methods to access Gemini, revamped visuals and quick settings panels, and many other changes. Here’s everything new with the OneUI 7 update on the Galaxy S24 Ultra.

OneUI 7 on Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra

The OneUI 7 update on the Galaxy S24 Ultra narrows the software gap from the latest Galaxy S25 Ultra. Samsung now lets you use the Side Button to activate Gemini, or any other digital assistant. This way, you can access AI features faster with a simple touch.

Samsung has also made it easier to launch Galaxy AI features quickly. You can now swipe inwards from the edge of the screen in any app to launch Galaxy AI from the edge panel.

The update also improves Gemini AI integration with Samsung apps like Calendar, Notes, Reminder, and the Clock. You can now use Gemini to complete a task in any of the following apps. For example, you can ask Gemini to save the result of a YouTube video directly in the Notes app by using voice commands. This functionality also expands to the Circle to Search.

Your Galaxy S24 Ultra can also read out highlights from a specific web page. It can read, analyse, and summarize the contents of a website in simple points with a single command.

Improvements in Galaxy AI

Samsung has introduced new writing tools in Galaxy AI to help you write better. These can be accessed from the 4-star icon, which appears when you select any text. It can correct spellings, check grammar, and even rewrite sentences. You can also provide a context and ask Galaxy AI to complete the paragraph.

Transcription feature has also been added for voice calls. Once you record any call, your phone can convert the entire conversation into text format. You can ask Galaxy AI to summarize the contents and curate minutes of the call, etc.

The gallery app also gets a nifty feature where you can remove unwanted noise from your recorded videos. For example, you can reduce traffic or background wind sounds in a video directly on your phone. Your phone can also auto-trim videos, and faster options to undo your edits have been introduced.

The new Drawing Assist feature helps you in sketching with your S-Pen. You can start with a drawing and provide context to Galaxy AI to complete the sketch. It can also convert the drawing into specific art styles.

Revamped User Interface

Samsung has redesigned the menus, buttons, and control bars throughout OneUI 7 to bring more consistency. This includes changes like new colours, subtle blur effects, smoother animations, and more.

The homescreen layout also gets some changes with adjustments in folder sizes to make them more accessible. Samsung has also optimised it for a landscape layout.

You can now swipe down from the right corner to open the quick settings panel. Swiping down anywhere else will bring the notification shade. The quick panel can also be customised as per your preferences. The notification layout has also been updated, making it easier to check the app name through grouping.

Samsung has also added Live Notifications. These will show up as interactive icons near the selfie camera cutout. It is now supported for tracking timers, exercises, voice recordings, etc. The feature also provides quick access options for the respective running activity.

The OneUI 7 update is the first major update on the Galaxy S24 Ultra. The device is eligible for six more Android updates, as it was among the first set of phones from Samsung to be eligible for 7 years of updates.
