Samsung Introduces Quick AI Assistant Access via Side Button on Galaxy A Series

Highlights
  • Select Galaxy A series smartphones will now support Gemini AI.
  • Users can launch Gemini by pressing and holding the side button.

Samsung is bringing AI to your fingertips, quite literally. A handful of Galaxy A series phones will soon let users launch an AI assistant just by holding the side button. Here’s everything you need to know about it.

Samsung Galaxy A Series Gets a Smart Upgrade

Samsung is simplifying the way Galaxy A series users interact with AI. Soon, a software update will enable select devices in the lineup to launch AI features instantly with a long press of the side button, putting Google's Gemini assistant just a touch away.

This enhancement builds on Samsung's broader push to make AI more accessible, following the rollout of smart features like live call translation and photo editing suggestions on the Galaxy A56 5G, Galaxy A36 5G, and Galaxy A26 5G.

The new shortcut means users can quickly ask Gemini to summarise emails, create grocery lists, or even plan a weekend itinerary—all without switching between apps. Whether it's drafting a social media caption or setting a fitness reminder, the experience is designed to streamline everyday tasks.

Samsung's A series has always focused on delivering meaningful innovation without the premium price tag. This move further bridges the gap between flagship AI capabilities and affordable devices—making it easier for more users to harness the power of AI.

What Users Can Look Forward To and When

The ability to access AI assistants like Google Gemini through the side button will make everyday tasks smoother and more efficient. Plus, if you’re pressed for time and don't want to unlock your phone, simply pressing the button will help you find what you need quickly.

The update is set to be released globally for select Galaxy A series models in early May.
