The Sony Xperia 1 VI was launched last year, and its successor seems to have been spotted on Taiwan’s National Communications Commission (NCC) website. The Xperia 1 VII, as it is likely to be called, looks set to feature a triple camera setup at the back and a headphone jack, which is fast becoming a rarity in today’s smartphone landscape. The Xperia line-up of smartphones might have disappeared from Indian shores, but Sony is still launching new smartphones in other markets.
Sony Xperia 1 VII: Leaked design, expected specifications
The live images found on the Taiwanese certification site show the Xperia 1 VII in three colourways – black, navy green, and purple. Last year’s Xperia 1 VI, in comparison, launched in Black, Platinum Silver, and Khaki Green. The smartphone looks similar to its predecessor, with a minimal, blocky design. There is a vertically arranged triple camera setup at the back with ZEISS branding, a headphone jack housed in the top panel, and power and volume keys on the right edge.
The report suggests that the primary rear camera will come with an Exmor-T sensor. It also claims the Xperia 1 VII will be 165mm tall and 74mm wide, making it slightly longer than the Xperia 1 VI, which is 162mm tall.
Earlier leaks point towards the Xperia 1 VII featuring the same 6.5-inch screen as its predecessor, with large bezels on the top and bottom. The device is also expected to feature the Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset, dual speakers, and a USB Type-C slot for charging and data transfer.
