OnePlus Introduces OxygenOS 15: Features, Release Timeline, and More

OnePlus has announced the OxygenOS 15, which aims to elevate the user experience with fast performance. Arthur Lam, Director of OxygenOS Product, reiterates the brand’s emphasis on its commitment to the Never Settle mantra. Here’s what’s new!

OxgenOS 15: New Features

  • Parallel Processing: The operating system brings refined animations to enhance usability through Parallel Processing. It covers more elements, including widgets, components, folders, and more. It also ensures seamless transitions and smooth animations.
  • Fresh New Look: It brings a new vibrant design with revamped icons, enhanced colours, and more shelf cards. The split mode now also brings access to the notification drawer and Quick Settings.
  • OnePlus OneTake: The OnePlus OneTake is the answer to users’ requests for enhanced personalisation with multiple customisation options for Always-on Display. The customisations for the lock screen also include AI-driven auto-fill options.
  • Open Canvas: It enables users to use three apps on a split screen for enhanced multitasking. Open Canvas also allows users to switch between apps while keeping their window sizes intact.
  • Fluid Cloud: The feature now supports multiple apps, including Zomato, Swiggy, and Spotify, for real-time synchronisation of information on the capsule. Users can also expand the capsules for detailed information.
  • OnePlus Share: The OnePlus Share now supports seamless one-tap sharing with iPhones for quick transfer of videos, photos, and documents. The real-time progress will also be visible on the iPhone’s Dynamic Island.
  • Security: It integrates Google Play Protect Live Protection for monitoring potential malware and analyses apps for suspicious activities. The OS also includes robust theft protection features, including an auto-lock screen after theft, remote lock, and offline lock.

OnePlus AI Features

  • AI Eraser: The feature can be used to remove people or unwanted objects from images with ease.
  • AI Unblur: It can be used to create portraits of fleeting moments.
  • AI Reflection Eraser: OnePlus says users can remove glass reflections while capturing city skylines, sunsets, and more.
  • AI Detail Boost and Pass Scan: The images can be cropped while maintaining details to ensure they are vibrant and sharp. The Pass Scan can be used to scan a physical boarding pass to Google Wallet by using a camera or selecting from Albums.
  • AI Notes: It offers new writing suite features, including continued writing, text polishing, and more.
  • AI Toolbox 2.0: OnePlus has upgraded the AI Summary, AI Writer, and AI Reply with multiple new functionalities.
  • Circle to Search: The Circle to Search can be used to identify any information present on your screen.
  • Intelligent Search: It uses advanced AI tools to elevate the search experience across your OnePlus smartphone.
  • Google Gemini: OnePlus will integrate the Gemini as its default assistant to its upcoming flagship smartphones to elevate capabilities.

OxygenOS 15: Rollout Timeline and Eligible Devices

OnePlus will start rolling out the OxygenOS 15 open beta update based on Android 15 for its smartphones, starting at the end of October 2024. Here’s a look at the list of smartphones that will receive the update in the coming months:

  • October 2024: OnePlus 12 5G, OnePlus 12R 5G, OnePlus 12R Genshin Impact Edition
  • November 2024: OnePlus Open, OnePlus Pad 2
  • December 2024: OnePlus 11 5G, OnePlus 11R 5G, OnePlus Nord 4, OnePlus Nord CE 4, OnePlus Nord CE 4 Lite 5G, OnePlus Pad
  • January 2025: OnePlus 10 Pro 5G, OnePlus 10T 5G, OnePlus Nord 3 5G
  • February 2025: OnePlus 10R 5G, OnePlus Nord CE 3 5G

OnePlus adds that the timeline might change depending on each country and carrier. The open beta update will be rolled out on a batch basis. The AI features are expected to be available for the open beta users by the end of November.

OnePlus confirms that only certain smartphones that are capable of handling AI features will be eligible for the same. The stable update will be rolled out to users at a later stage after receiving extensive feedback from beta users. The update to carrier-locked smartphones will also depend on the carriers.

OxygenOS 15: Ineligible Smartphones

Certian OnePlus smartphones ranging from the flagship series to N series smartphones won’t be eligible for the OxygenOS 15 update. Take a look at the list of ineligible smartphones.
