NetherRealm has earlier revealed Mortal Kombat 1 release date and you guys don’t have to wait that long to try the game as its pre-order beta access is just weeks away. Ed Boon, the director of Mortal Kombat 1, has revealed that NetherRealm Studios will be running a beta test for the next fighting game in the MK series from 18 August to 21 August. However, beta access will be limited to PlayStation and Xbox players exclusively.
NetherRealm Studios has confirmed that Mortal Kombat 1 will be released on September 19, 2023, four years after the last entry in the series. The new instalment will feature an even more diverse cast of characters, and fans are already lining up to pre-order a copy of the game.
The Mortal Kombat 1 Pre-Order Beta is a bonus for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S owners who pre-order the game.

Mortal Kombat 1 Pre-Order Beta Access Details Announced
While Mortal Kombat 1 was already playable via closed network tests, this version will include a slew of new features, including the recently released Li Mei. The Mortal Kombat 1 official Twitter account detailed all of the available content(playable characters):
- Fighters: Liu Kang, Sub-Zero, Kenshi, Kitana, Johnny Cage, and Li Mei
- Kameos: Kano, Sonya, Jax, and Frost
- Stages: The Teahouse & Johnny Cage’s Mansion.

The announcement comes after NetherRealm Studios announced returning fighters Baraka, Li Mei, and Tanya, as well as special guests Omni-Man, Peacemaker, and Homelander, during the recent San Diego Comic-Con. The announcement came after a leak confirmed their inclusion in the new game.
Scorpion, although being a Kameo fighter, will not participate in Mortal Kombat 1’s pre-order beta. At the very least, his absence allows for relatively unknown fighters like Li Mei (of 3D-era fame) to join in on the fun.
The pre-order beta access will kick off on Friday (18 August) and here are the timings:
- 18 August at 11 a.m. EDT / 10 a.m. CDT / 8 a.m. PDT
- 21 August 21 at 11 a.m. EDT / 10 a.m. CDT / 8 a.m. PDT
Players can begin downloading the game on 15 August at 11 a.m. EDT / 10 a.m. CDT / 8 a.m. PDT. Prior to the Beta, digital codes will be redeemable and the Beta version of the game will be available; however, players will not be allowed to access the game to participate until the previously indicated start time. If a player attempts to launch the Beta version outside of the Beta period, they will receive a “Sign in to enter this menu” error.
For players who bought physical and digital pre-orders made through participating retailers, Beta codes will be provided and redeemable with a Warner Bros. Games Account until 21 August 2023. The Mortal Kombat 1 Pre-Order Beta will include 1vs 1 online multiplayer as well as a limited single-player Klassic Towers mode against AI opponents and a PS Plus or Xbox Live Gold subscription will be required to participate in the 1 vs. 1 online multiplayer.
Players will get a free T-shirt upon pre-ordering Mortal Kombat 1 from GamesTheShop.com. For more information, visit the official blog post, linked here.
