Motorola is readying for the launch of its next budget smartphone, the Moto G7. The phone is said to launch next year and will bring some design changes that will appeal to the customers. In a world with notches and slim bezels, the current Moto G6 series features thick bezels. However, that will not be the case with the Moto G7 and Moto G7 Play.
We have already seen leaked renders for the Moto G7 with the waterdrop notch and slim bezels. Now, some images of the Moto G7 Play have appeared on the certification site FCC. The images show the new design and reveal other specifications of the phone.
Moto G7 Play Design
The Moto G6 Play variant had a less powerful processor, single rear camera, and is cheaper than the Moto G6. Therefore, the Moto G7 Play will also be the cheaper version of the Moto G7 with a slower processor and single rear camera. The images on FCC confirm that the G7 Play will have a single rear camera and a large notch up front.
From a design perspective, the new Motorola G7 Play will look substantially different than the current model. As you can see from the images below, the phone will have slimmer side bezels on both side and on top. However, there is a large notch that houses the camera, earpiece, front flash and other sensors. There is a chin at the bottom as well, which bears the Motorola symbol.
The images posted on FCC also reveal that the fingerprint sensor will be at the back of the device. Once again, the phone will have a single rear camera and a flash. The G7 Play will also have a headphone jack at the top, microSD card slot, and USB Type-C port for charging. That’s pretty much all the design details of the Motorola G7 Play.
Moto G7 Play Specifications
The listing also reveals some specifications of the phone. As per the FCC listing, the phone will feature a Snapdragon 632 chipset, 2820mAh battery, and run on Android 9.0 Pie out of the box. The Snapdragon 632 chipset is a mid-range processor and is a big improvement over the SD 430 processor found on the current gen G6 Play. The phone is also expected to have about 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage, although, we are not entirely sure about this.
The Moto G7, on the other hand, will have a more powerful chipset, larger RAM, and dual-rear camera setup. According to a report, the G7 will comes with a 6.4-inch FHD+ display and a larger 3500mAh battery. The dual-rear camera setup with comprise of a primary 16MP sensor and a secondary 5MP unit. On the front, you can expect a 12MP selfie camera. The G7 will have a teardrop notch at the front, which means that it will have a higher screen-to-body ratio when compared to the G7 Play. As mentioned earlier, both the phones will run stock Android 9.0 Pie out of the box.
