Motorola unveiled its G7 smartphone lineup internationally last week, which includes four smartphones, the Moto G7, Moto G7 Plus, Moto G7 Power, and the Moto G7 Play. During the international launch, Motorola revealed that these smartphones will be available in the Indian market in ‘coming weeks’ but the brand has not yet revealed the Indian launch date. However, reports suggest that the Moto G7 Power will go on sale in India starting tomorrow with a price tag of INR 14,500.

If the Motorola Moto G7 Power launches in India with its expected price tag of INR 14,500, it will compete directly with the two champions in the mid-range smartphone segment, the Xiaomi Redmi Note 6 Pro and the Realme 2 Pro. The question is, is the Motorola Moto G7 Power a better smartphone than the other two? Let’s find out.

Motorola Moto G7 Power vs Xiaomi Redmi vs Realme 2 Pro: Price in India

According to reports, the Motorola Moto G7 Power will be sold in India in only one variant, which will have 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage, and this variant would be priced at INR 14,500. A similar RAM and storage configuration for the Redmi Note 6 Pro costs INR 13,990, while that for the Realme 2 Pro costs INR 12,990.

The Redmi Note 6 Pro also comes in 6GB RAM + 64GB storage option, which costs INR 15,990. The Realme 2 Pro, on the other hand, comes in two other variants. The one with 6GB of RAM and 64GB storage costs INR 14,990, while the one with 8GB of RAM and 128GB storage costs INR 16,990.

As you can see, for a similar price as the 4GB + 64GB variant of the Motorola Moto G7 Power, you can get the 6GB + 64GB variant of the Realme 2 Pro. Therefore, we will be pitting the Motorola Moto G7 Power with the 6GB + 64GB variant of the Realme 2 Pro in this comparison.

Motorola Moto G7 Power vs Xiaomi Redmi vs Realme 2 Pro: Display

The Motorola Moto G7 Power features a 6.2-inch display. In comparison, the Xiaomi Redmi Note 6 Pro has a 6.26-inch display, and the Realme 2 Pro has a 6.3-inch display. The display size of all three smartphones is similar. However, the Motorola Moto G7 Power only has HD+ resolution, whereas the Redmi Note 6 Pro and Realme 2 Pro have a Full HD+ resolution. Due to a lower resolution, the display of the G7 Power will have inferior quality, and hence, it scores the last position in the display section. Now between the displays of Redmi Note 6 Pro and the Realme 2 Pro, there isn’t much to differentiate. However, the Realme 2 Pro gets a slight edge as it has a smaller notch than that of the Redmi Note 6 Pro. Even though by a small margin, the Realme 2 Pro takes the lead here.

Motorola Moto G7 Power vs Xiaomi Redmi vs Realme 2 Pro: Camera

The Motorola Moto G7 Power comes with a single 12MP camera at the back, whereas, the Redmi Note 6 Pro has a 12MP + 5MP dual-camera, and the Realme 2 Pro has a 16MP + 2MP dual-camera at the back. The image quality cannot be defined based on the number of cameras. However, at least on paper, the Moto G7 Power loses out to the other two smartphones due to the lack of a second camera on the back. Now between the Redmi Note 6 Pro and the Realme 2 Pro, the latter takes the crown as it features 4K video recording that the former lacks.

Coming to the front-facing camera, the Motorola Moto G7 Power has an 8MP camera, the Realme 2 Pro has a 16MP camera, while the Redmi Note 6 Pro has a 20MP + 2MP dual-cameras. As the Motorola Moto G7 Power has the lowest resolution sensor, it loses out here as well. The Redmi Note 6 Pro takes the crown here as it has the highest resolution camera and an additional depth-sensor. The Realme 2 Pro lies in between the two smartphones.

Motorola Moto G7 Power vs Xiaomi Redmi vs Realme 2 Pro: Performance & Software

When it comes to performance, the Realme 2 Pro is a clear winner because it packs the fastest processor of the lot, the Snapdragon 660. Not only that, the Realme 2 Pro also offers 6GB of RAM for the same price as the 4GB RAM variants of the other two smartphones. The Redmi Note 6 Pro comes next with its Snapdragon 636 processor. The Motorola Moto G7 Power comes last with the least powerful processor of the lot, the Snapdragon 632.

Moving on the software, the Motorola Moto G7 Power features Android 9 Pie OS with stock UI. The Realme 2 Pro features Android 9 Pie OS as well, but with Color OS 5.2 customization, whereas, the Redmi Note 6 Pro comes with Android 8.1 Oreo OS. In my opinion, the Color OS 5.2 customization on the Realme 2 Pro looks ugly, and therefore, I think it deserves the last position. The Motorola Moto G7 Power is the best among the three devices in terms of software as it not only offers the latest version of Android but also comes with clean, bloatware-free stock Android UI. The Redmi Note 6 Pro lies in between the other two smartphones.

Motorola Moto G7 Power vs Xiaomi Redmi vs Realme 2 Pro: Battery

Battery life is one of the most important aspects of a smartphone, and the Motorola Moto G7 Power aces here with its massive 5000mAh battery and 15W fast charging capability. The Redmi Note 6 Pro comes second with its 4000mAh battery, and the Realme 2 Pro comes last as it has the smallest of the lot, a 3500mAh battery.

Motorola Moto G7 Power vs Xiaomi Redmi vs Realme 2 Pro: Verdict

The Realme 2 Pro not only has the most powerful processor of the lot, but it also features the best camera hardware and the best display among the three smartphones. Hence, it wins this battle. The Redmi Note 6 Pro does not win in any section, but it is better than the Motorola Moto G7 Power in almost everything. Hence it takes the second position. The Motorola Moto G7 Power, unfortunately, comes last as it not only has the least powerful processor among the three smartphones but it also losses out to the other two in terms of imaging capability and display quality. It may sound harsh, but the Motorola Moto G7 Power will not be worth your money if it launches at its expected price tag of INR 14,500.
