Motorola is gearing up to launch its first Edge 40 series smartphone in India. The company has confirmed that it will launch the Moto Edge 40 as its new premium smartphone next week in India. The device will debut in the country on May 23. Motorola has already launched the phone in Europe. The smartphone is confirmed to pack the same set of hardware and features found in the international variant. What was under wraps was the pricing. Motorola will announce the pricing and availability details of the Edge 40 at the event on May 23.
However, thanks to a Flipkart listing, we now know the price of the phone a few days ahead of its launch in India. A Flipkart banner within the app has revealed the price of the phone along with some details about the offers. Motorola Edge 40: Price in India Leaked
Motorola Edge 40 will be the first smartphone in the company’s latest flagship series to debut in India. The device’s sale date and price have leaked. According to a screenshot of the Flipkart banner shared by a Twitter user called Karan Mistry, the Moto Edge 40 will have an effective price of Rs 27,999. The price is inclusive of all offers and valid only for pre-order customers.
The banner did not reveal all the details about the offers. It only confirms that customers who buy the Edge 40 will get Rs 2,000 off on exchange. There is also an option to bundle a screen replacement package for Rs 9,500. The device is said to be available for pre-order from May 23, which is on the day of the India launch.
The Flipkart listing confirms that the India variant will launch with 8GB of LPDDR4x RAM and 256GB of UFS 3.1 storage. Motorola has already listed the specs of the India variant on the Flipkart microsite.
The device will debut in India in three colour options and two finishes. The vegan leather variant will come in Nebula Green and Eclipse Black, whereas the Lunar Blue option will be available in a PMMA Acrylic finish.
The device is also claimed to be the slimmest 5G smartphone worldwide. It will launch in India with 14 5G bands support. The Edge 40 has a Dimensity 8020 SoC under the hood. It features a 4400mAh battery with support for 68W TurboPower fast charging out of the box. The device is also claimed to be the first in its segment to offer 15W wireless charging support.
Motorola’s upcoming Edge 40 is also confirmed to feature a MediaTek Dimensity 8020 SoC. It will sport a dual speaker setup with Dolby Atmos audio. The phone will feature a 6.55-inch OLED display with curved edges and a Full HD+ resolution. There will be support for a 144Hz refresh rate, and 1200 nits peak brightness.
On the back, the Edge 40 has a dual-camera setup. It has a 50MP primary camera with support for optical image stabilisation (OIS) and an f/1.4 aperture. There is also a 13MP ultra-wide camera that can also shoot macro images. The Edge 40 features a 32MP front camera and an in-display fingerprint scanner.
It has an IP68 rating for water and dust resistance. Lastly, the phone boots Android 13-based MyUX out of the box.
