Motorola recently launched the X40 as its new flagship phone of 2023. The company is expected to launch the phone outside China as the Motorola Edge 40. There is also a Motorola Edge 40 Pro in the works. The rumour mill has been talking about the upcoming Motorola flagship phones but not much about them has been leaked, until now. Motorola Moto Edge 40 Series: Specifications and Features

The Motorola Moto Edge 40 series will offer top-of-the-line specifications found in 2023 flagships. Edge 40 Pro will be the more premium of the two. The Pro model seems to be a rebadged version of the X40 from China. It will feature the top-of-the-line Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC. The device will also feature 12GB of LPDDR5X RAM and 256GB of UFS 4.0 storage.

The phone will sport a 6.67-inch endless-edge display, which essentially means it will be a curved panel with minimal bezels at the top and bottom. The Full HD+ pOLED display will offer features, such as HDR10+, Dolby Vision, support for DCI-P3 colour gamut, 1300 nits of peak brightness, etc. There will be support for a 165Hz refresh rate and 360Hz touch sampling rate.

The frame is made of aluminium, whereas the front and rear panels have a layer of Corning Gorilla Glass Victus. The phone also offers an iP68 rating for water and dust resistance. It will launch in two colours — Quartz Black and Angel Falls. The Edge 40 Pro will weigh about 199 grams and measure 161.16 x 74 x 8.59mm in terms of dimensions.

The phone will pack a 4600mAh battery and support 125W wired fast charging. There is also support for 15W wireless charging and 5W reverse wireless charging. In terms of optics, there is a 50MP main camera with support for optical image stabilisation (OIS) and an f/1.8 aperture. The camera setup also includes a 50MP ultra-wide lens and a 12MP portrait lens (with 2x optical zoom). For selfies, the device has a 60MP front camera. Lastly, the Edge 40 Pro will run Android 13-based MyUX 5.0 out of the box.

Moving on to the newer, affordable flagship, the Edge 40 5G. Our sources could confirm that the phone will feature an unannounced MediaTek Dimensity 8020 SoC. The phone will launch with 8GB of LPDDR4x RAM and offer up to 256GB of UFS 3.1 storage. There is a 4400mAh battery with support for 68W fast charging and 15W wireless charging.

On the front, the device will feature a 6.55-inch Full HD+ pOLED display with 144Hz refresh rate support. It will come with features, such as HDR10+ and 1200 nits of peak brightness.

The phone will launch with a dual-camera setup on the back. There is a 50MP f/1.5 main camera with OIS support and a 13MP ultra-wide lens with a 120-degree field of view. For selfies, there is a 32MP front camera.

The phone will launch with two different materials — vegan leather and PMMA Acrylic. The vegan leather variant will weigh about 171 grams and measure 158.43 x 71.99 x 7.58mm. The PMMA variant will be 7.49mm thick and weigh about 167 grams. Both variants will offer an IP68 rating. The device will launch in four colours — Lunar Blue, Nebula Green, Eclipse Black and Magenta.
