Motorola announced the Motorola G8 Plus and the Motorola G8 Play last month and is now geared up to launch the middle version of the lineup – Motorola G8. Thanks to the noted tipster Evan Blass, we have got an official promotional video of the Moto G8 which showcases the device in all its glory.
If the recent rumors are to be believed, the Moto G8 could very well be unveiled during the launch of the company’s first-ever foldable smartphone dubbed the Motorola Razr 2019.
Moto G8 specifications, features, and live shots
As per the video, the Moto G8 will look more or less like the Moto G8 Play. We can see a triple rear camera setup coming up with the Moto G8. The three cameras are accompanied by a dual-tone LED flash that sits right underneath the camera module.
Though the leaked promotional video is pretty brief, we could still spot the text 48MP written underneath the camera array which means that we are once again going to get a 48MP primary sensor with the likes of the Moto G8. The other two sensors will most likely be comprised of an ultra-wide lens and a depth sensor.
The physical fingerprint scanner lies at the usual position (embedded inside the Motorola logo). Again, nothing too new when it comes to the overall design and form factor.
Furthermore, the Moto G8 will come in three color variants – Blue, Red, and Black.
At the front of the Moto G8, we will once again see a waterdrop notch at the top. The resolution of the front camera, however, is not confirmed as of now.
As far as the price of the Moto G8 is concerned, since the Moto G8 Plus was launched with an asking price of somewhere around $200, we can very well expect its standard sibling to fall even lower down the budget bracket and a $150 price tag won’t come as a surprise to anyone.
Speaking of the Moto G8 Plus, the device comes with a 6.3-inch FHD+ LTPS IPS LCD display with a waterdrop notch at the top. The resolution of the device comes out to be 2280 x 1080 Pixels.
Contrary to the triple rear camera setup the Moto G8 is going to utilize, the Moto G8 Plus has one added camera to it (48MP (f/2.0, Quad Pixel Technology, 1.6micrometer) + 5MP (f/2.2, 1.12micrometer) + 16MP (16MP Sensor, f/2.2, Quad Pixel Technology, 2.0micrometer, Dedicated Ultra-wide FOV 117Degree Video) combination at the back (with the quad pixels technology that paves the way for 4x low light sensitivity)). At the front, the Moto G8 Plus comes with a 25MP selfie snapper.
Under the hood, the Moto G8 Plus comes with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 665 chipset which is coupled with 4GB of RAM ad 64GB of expandable storage. We can very well expect the standard Moto G8 to have the same SoC and the differentiating factor could be the cameras this time around. This, however, is not confirmed as of now, so we might as well take it with a pinch of salt.
As of now, this is all we know about the Moto G8, but we are sure to receive further intel on the same in the coming days.
