Motorola is rumoured to launch a new smartphone in the ThinkPhone series. The company’s parent company Lenovo launched its ThinkPad series of laptops, which are focused towards catering for the needs of business-centric customers. The ThinkPhone could offer some productivity-focused features and functions that work well with Lenovo laptops. The company has not confirmed any details about the launch. Meanwhile, a new leak has revealed some key details about the upcoming Motorola ThinkPhone.

Tipster Snoopy Tech has uploaded the marketing material of the ThinkPhone, which reveals its design and specifications. The images reveal that the ThinkPhone will sport a flat frame design and come with a red button on the left side. The functionality details of this button are unknown at the moment. The images also reveal that the software will provide features so that the phone can be connected to a Lenovo laptop. There are options like “Connect Display”, “Mirror Phone”, “Webcam”, etc.

In addition to this, users could also be able to respond to incoming phone calls, and messages or even control music from the laptop. Some of these features are similar to what we see in Galaxy phones and laptops, courtesy of the DeX mode.

Moving on to the design details and specifications, the ThinkPhone Motorola smartphone will come with a curved rear panel. It seems to have some sort of IP rating for resistance against water splashes at least. The rear panel has a textured finish.

There is also a square-shaped camera module on the back. There will be a 50MP main camera setup. The triple-camera setup will also feature an ultrawide camera and support for macro shots, as revealed in one of the marketing images. The phone will support .5x and 1.0x zoom along with the ability to shoot macro photos. It is unknown if the third sensor will be dedicated to the macro camera or if it is a depth sensor. A recent report revealed that the phone will feature a 13MP ultrawide camera and a 2MP depth sensor.

On the front, the display is flat and sports a hole-punch cutout at the top centre. The phone also has fairly thin bezels around the display. The power and volume buttons are on the right edge of the phone.

Tipster Snoopy Tech also revealed that the phone will draw power from a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 SoC, which is becoming a new entry-level flagship SoC. The device will support 15W wireless charging along with 68W wired fast charging. It will also run on the latest Android 13 software update out of the box.

Other leaked details about the phone include a 6.6-inch OLED display with support for a 144Hz refresh rate. The phone will feature a 32MP front camera sensor. The device will weigh about 189 grams and measure 158.7 x 74.4 x 8.3 mm. We can also expect the phone to launch with 8GB/ 12GB RAM options along with 128GB/ 256GB internal storage.

There is no word on the launch date of the phone. However, we can expect more details to be available at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2023, which will go live on January 5 in Las Vegas. What are your thoughts on the Motorola ThinkPhone? Let us know in the comments below.
