August witnessed nearly 10 smartphone launches that made a huge impact in the Indian market. However, this was just a calm before the storm because we all know the current month of September is witnessing a load of new launches including iPhone 15 series as well. 

In August, we saw the launch of several budget and mid-range smartphones including the Vivo V29e, iQOO Z7 Pro, Realme 11 5G, Realme 11x 5G, OPPO A58, Samsung Galaxy F34 5G, Infinix GT 10 Pro, and Lava Yuva 2. These launches have changed the entire smartphone rankings about which we are reporting in our August edition of MSP Tech Insights. 

The data has been collected from 15 million shoppers that visited our platform last month to make their gadget purchase decisions. So without further ado, let’s check out MySmartPrice Tech Insights report for August 2023.


Most Popular Mobile Phones in August 2023

1. Redmi 12 5G

Redmi 12 5G debuted in August 2023 and it has grabbed the first spot to finally break the three-months popularity streak of the OnePlus Nord CE 3 Lite. The latter was the most popular smartphone on MySmartPrice Tech Insights reports ever since its launch in April. The Redmi 12 5G is the company’s most affordable 5G-enabled handset and is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 processor.

2. Realme C53

Realme’s C series has always performed well in the Indian market with the C35 being a prime example of it. The C53 is another latest entrant on MySmartPrice most popular smartphones list. It features a 90Hz LCD display with a waterdrop notch. The smartphone is powered by the octa-core UNISoC T612 SoC that brings with it an integrated Mali G57 GPU. The USP of the device is its 108MP sensor with 3x digital zoom.

3. OnePlus Nord CE 3 Lite

OnePlus most affordable phone, the Nord CE 3 Lite 5G seems to have lost its popularity after the spate of recent launches. But that does not change the fact that it has to offer under Rs 20,000, including xx and xx. That’s why it is not a surprise that it was the most selling device in India in the month of April, as per Counterpoint. 

4. OnePlus Nord CE 3 5G

Launched along with the Nord 3, the OnePlus Nord CE 3 5G is emerging as one of the most popular smartphones in the market. It’s a mid-range offering that starts at Rs 26,999 and features the Snapdragon 782G processor under the hood. It also comes with a 120Hz AMOLED display with an in-display fingerprint scanner, a 5000mAh battery, 80W SuperVOOC fast charging support,  50MP primary camera with OIS support, and much more.

5. Infinix GT 10 Pro

Infinix has been launching several offerings in 2023 that have managed to leave a big impression in the market. The Infinix GT 10 Pro surely manages to grab attention. For Rs 20,999, the phone has a uniquely designed back panel with LED lights, an octa-core MediaTek Dimensity 8050 processor, 108MP camera sensor, and a 45W fast charging among others. 

6. Realme 11 Pro Plus

The Realme 11 Pro Plus has kept its buzz alive even after months its launch. The smartphone offers a unique design language, a curved AMOLED display and a 200MP camera sensor, and more for under Rs 30,000. The Sunrise Beige colour variant featuring a Vegan Leather on the back is the hottest choice of the users. 

7. Redmi Note 12 5G

Another Xiaomi device front the Redmi Note 12 series in this list is the Redmi Note 12 5G. It is another affordable 5G device that comes equipped with a 6.67-inch Super AMOLED display with a Full HD+ resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate. It is powered by the octa-core Snapdragon 4 Gen 1 processor. The device features a 48MP triple camera, a 13MP selfie camera, an IR Blaster, and a side-mounted fingerprint sensor.

8. Samsung Galaxy M34 

The Samsung Galaxy M34 is a budget device from the company that was launched in June. Starting at Rs 17,999, it offers a 120Hz AMOLED display, Samsung’s in-house Exynos 1280 chipset, four years of Android updates, and a beefy 6000mAh battery. 

9. Vivo T2X

The Vivo T2x slipped from fifth position in June to ninth in August. However, it’s commendable how the phone has managed to be on this list even several months after its launch. It offers the MediaTek Dimensity 6020 chipset and carries a price tag of Rs 12,999. It is the cheapest smartphone to offer this processor and 5G support. The company is also confirmed to launch another T series device in India this month – the Vivo T2 Pro – so it would be interesting to see how that ranks in the popularity charts. 

10. Realme 11 Pro

Both Realme 11 Pro series devices are on MySmartPrice popular smartphones list, however the Pro variant has lost its popularity massively in August. In June and July, it was among the top 3 popular smartphones. Starting at Rs 23,999, the phone boasts the Mediatek Dimensity 7050 chipset, a 100-megapixel primary sensor, 67W fast charging, 120Hz curved AMOLED display, and more. 

Top 5 Upcoming Smartphones in India (August 2023)

1. Apple iPhone 15

It is interesting to see how base iPhone 15 has remained the most anticipated upcoming smartphone on MySmartPrice for a long time, though it has launched this month. This time around, the iPhone 15 have been assembled in India. The iPhone 15 brings a Dynamic Island, a 48MP camera setup, A16 Bionic Chip, and USB-C port. 

2. iPhone 15 Pro Max

This year, the iPhone 15 Pro Max has been launched with a number of features that are usually reserved especially for the Pro Max models. Compared to the Pro model, the iPhone 15 Pro Max has a large 6.7-inch display, long lasting battery life, 5x optical zoom, etc. Interestingly, the Pro Max model doesn’t feature any 128GB storage variant this year, and starts with 256GB built-in memory. 

3. Vivo V29

Vivo is rumoured to launch the V29 series in the end of September in India. The company has already launched the V29e in India. The upcoming Vivo V29 5G is tipped to debut in India with India-specific features. The phone is the only Chinese brand smartphone to be included in the upcoming smartphone list. This implies not everyone is looking only for flagship devices but for budget and mid-range devices as well. 

4. iPhone 15 Pro

It’s fascinating that three out of five upcoming smartphones are iPhone 15 series devices on this list. This data is enough to prove how much popularity Apple is gaining in India. The iPhone 15 Pro comes with notable features such as Dynamic Island, USB-C 3 port, A17 Pro chipset, a 120Hz Super Retina XDR display, an Action button, and much more.

5. Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra

The launch of iPhone 15 series has now given more hype to the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra. The premium flagship from the Korean giant is expected to launch in January 2024. It has now joined the club of most anticipated upcoming smartphone launches on MySmartprice platform. According to the rumours, the phone will feature a Titanium build, flat display, and a new 200MP camera sensor.
