The game will feature A$AP Rocky as an in-game character.

Need for Speed Unbound

Need for Speed Unbound has been officially unveiled and fans got their first look at the newest simcade racing installment in the franchise. The new game is quite the departure from the last few games in the series as it seems to incorporate art styles from anime in combination with photorealistic graphics.

This new visual blend seems to have garnered a positive reaction from the fanbase as many in the community feel that this was a breath of fresh air for a franchise that had begun to lose steam. The game comes out on December 2, 2022 and features the city of Lakeshore, where players can race, collect, and upgrade their rides and climb their way up the rankings.

The game comes out only on current-gen consoles (PS5, Xbox Series X/S) and PC and will feature 4K resolution at 60 FPS for the first time in the series.

The game doesn’t seem to just feature music from hip-hop icon A$AP Rocky, but it looks like he might also be someone you go up against in the game.

Need for Speed Unbound is all about self-expression, taking risks and disrupting the status quo by just being you – through your racing style, unique car builds, fashion, music and much more,” said Kieran Crimmins, Creative Director at Criterion Games. “We are inspired to create a truly authentic universe where players see themselves represented in the game.”

One of the key focus points for the game seems to be an added emphasis on customization – letting players choose from hundreds of cosmetic items including exclusive licensed gear. The game will feature a replayable “precision driving mode” called Takeover Scene featuring A$AP Rocky as the in-game leader and it will bring the community together to take over part of the city.
