A new day, a new Apple product launch. The Cupertino-based consumer electronics brand seems to be on a roll these days, especially after the announcement of its March 25 event. First, it launched updated iMacs with newer Intel processors and AMD GPUs. Then, it launched the new iPad Air and the new iPad Mini. After a long wait, Apple has now unveiled its new AirPods. In a classic Apple move, the company is callings its second-generation completely wireless earphones just “AirPods.”
The new AirPods come with relatively improved battery life and faster connectivity, thanks to the new chipset. It also features ‘Hey Siri’ hotword detection and an optional wireless charging case. They compete with the likes of the Bose SoundSport Free, Jabra Elite 65t, Samsung Galaxy Buds, and the Sennheiser Momentum True Wireless.
Apple AirPods (2019) Price in India, Launch Date
The new Apple AirPods will be available in India for INR 14,900 and they’ll come with a regular charging case. Apple will also sell second-generation AirPods with a wireless charging compatible case for INR 18,990. If you own first-generation AirPods, you can get a wireless charging case for INR 7,500.
While the company hasn’t announced any specific launch date for the new AirPods and the wireless charging case, Apple says that they’ll be available through Apple Authorised Resellers later this spring.
Apple AirPods (2019) Features H1 Chipset For Faster Connectivity, Improved Battery Life
The new Apple AirPods look exactly similar to first-generation AirPods and everything that’s new is inside those wireless earbuds. The company claims that it has developed a new chipset—Apple H1—which features Bluetooth 5.0 and is more power efficient than the Apple W1 chipset that’s used in first-gen AirPods. Apple claims that this new chipset helps the newer AirPods in not only connecting in half the time as earlier but also in helping them in delivering up to 50% more talk time.
For the first time, AirPods will support “Hey Siri” hotword detection, so you can just shout at yourself in the public and ask Siri to increase or decrease the volume level, control music playback, make calls, and much more. You can, obviously, ask Siri for information, similar to what you do on the iPhone or the iPad.
Phil Schiller, Senior Vice President of Worldwide Marketing at Apple, said, “AirPods delivered a magical wireless experience and have become one of the most beloved products we’ve ever made. They connect easily with all of your devices, and provide crystal clear sound and intuitive, innovative control of your music and audio.”
AirPods (2019) Come With An Optional Qi Wireless Charging Case
As predicted and reported earlier, second-generation AirPods come with an optional wireless charging case. They’re compatible with the Qi standard, so you can charge them wirelessly. An LED light at the front shows the charging status of the AirPods as well as the case. Apple claims that both normal and wireless charging cases will be able to provide more than 24 hours of total listening time. Can we expect reverse wireless charging in 2019’s iPhones? We certainly hope so. What’s more, first-gen AirPods are compatible with the wireless charging case, but interested buyers will have to shell out INR 7,500 for this feature.
