Apple might launch new MacBook machines with an M2 chip later this year. The company launched the Mac Studio recently with an M1 Ultra chip, which is also expected to feature in the upcoming Mac Pro. Following the launch, we can expect the company to introduce the new M2 chip later this year. The new M2 chip will debut in the Air and 13-inch MacBook Pro models. Apple will launch the MacBook Air with a 13.3-inch display, according to reports.

A new report now claims that the Air might get another variant with a larger display and form factor. A report from Display Supply Chain Consultants (Via MacRumors) reveals that a 15-inch MacBook Air is in the works. Let’s take a look at the details around the new 15-inch Apple MacBook Air rumoured ahead of the launch.

New 15-inch Apple MacBook Air Rumoured

Apple might launch a new MacBook Air with a 15-inch display sometime next year. This model will sit above the existing 13-inch Air model. According to reports, the 13-inch model will get a refresh later this year with an M2 chip and possibly a new design. Next year, Apple will launch a new 15-inch model. Analyst Ross Young claims that the 15-inch model will be slightly larger in terms of form factor than the 13-inch model. This means that the bezels could be slightly thinner on the 15-inch model, resulting in a higher screen-to-body ratio.

This is not the first time that we are hearing about a 15-inch ‌MacBook Air‌. Previously, Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman claimed that Apple was working on a larger model with 15-inch display size. At the time, Apple had considered building a larger version of the ‌MacBook Air‌, but decided not to move forward with it “for the next generation,” Gurman said.

The company will first launch the 13-inch model. A report recently suggested that the 13-inch model’s launch is pushed to the second half of 2022. It is said to get a new design with white bezels around the 13.3-inch display. Apple will also launch the laptop with support for MagSafe, which will be similar to the MacBook Pro M1 Pro, M1 Max models.

The MacBook Air will launch in multiple colour options and sport a white-coloured keyboard layout. It will feature only two USB Type-C ports. As expected, the ProMotion display tech will not be trickled down to the Air model this year and reserved only for the 14-inch and 16-inch Pro models.
