A recent report claimed that HMD Global is preparing to launch not one but two new Snapdragon 710-powered smartphones very soon. While the first device is expected to launch as the Nokia 7.1 Plus, the latest report claimed the company would also launch a successor to the Nokia 7 alongside the X7. An image showing an upcoming Nokia-branded smartphone has now surfaced online, featuring a dual-camera setup at the rear and a design that appears very similar to the Nokia 7.1 Plus.

Nokia 7.1: Alleged Spy Shot Leaked Online

The leaked image shows the upcoming smartphone will feature a metal rear panel with visible antenna lines. As revealed by the CAD renders we shared with you recently, the Nokia 7.1 Plus has a glass back instead. Apart from the difference in build materials, the device seen in the leaked image appears very similar to the Nokia 7.1 Plus. Both smartphones have a dual-camera setup and a circular rear-mounted fingerprint sensor with metal accents around them. While there is no ZEISS logo visible in the leaked image, it is possible that the branding will be present in the final retail models. We also see the Android One branding towards the bottom of the rear panel.

Nokia 7.1: Specifications, Features

The Nokia 7.1 is expected to be very similar to the Nokia 7.1 Plus in terms of hardware specifications. As for key differences, the Nokia 7.1 Plus is expected to feature a larger display with a notch at the top. On the other hand, the standard Nokia 7.1 will not have a notched display. This means the “Plus” model will feature a higher screen-to-body ratio as well. Under the hood, both smartphones are expected to be powered by Qualcomm’s powerful Snapdragon 710 10nm octa-core processor with 2 Kryo 360 Gold cores clocked at 2.2 GHz and six Kryo 360 Silver cores clocked at 1.7 GHz. Handling the graphics processing will be an Adreno 616 GPU. In the memory department, both smartphones are expected to be available with up to 6GB of RAM, at least in select markets. As for storage, we expect the Nokia 7.1 to pack 64GB of internal storage with a microSD card slot for further expansion.

In the camera department, the Nokia 7.1 and Nokia 7.1 Plus will both feature dual rear cameras with Carl Zeiss optics and support for 4K Ultra HD video recording. The resolution of the two sensors, however, is not known currently. For selfies, both the smartphones are likely to feature a 16MP snapper with Face Unlock support. As can be seen in the image above, the smartphone will also feature a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor for greater security. Connectivity-wise, the Nokia 7.1 and Nokia 7.1 Plus are expected to support Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac dual-band, Bluetooth 5.0 Low Energy, GPS with A-GPS, GLONASS, BeiDou, Dual 4G VoLTE, and a USB Type-C port.
