We have now spotted certification listings of two more models of the next-generation Samsung Galaxy Watch — SM-R840 and SM-R850 — on FCC. SM-R840 has 41mm size and SM-R850 has 45mm size

Here is the most interesting info though. We have spotted the schematics of the back cover of the SM-R840 and SM-R850 in their certifications. The schematic of the SM-R840 reveals that it has a 41mm size and that of the SM-R850 reveals that it has a 45mm size, confirming the case sizes and their respective models once and for all. These schematics also reveal detailed dimensions of the back of the cover of these smartwatches.

SM-R845 and SM-R855 are cellular variants and SM-R840 and SM-R850 are non-cellular variants

Lastly, these documents show the difference between the SM-R840 and SM-R845, and SM-R850 and SM-R855. According to the documents, the SM-R845 has cellular connectivity, whereas, the SM-R845 doesn’t. Similarly, the SM-R855 features cellular support and the SM-R850 doesn’t, clearing the confusion between the main model numbers of the upcoming Samsung Galaxy Watch.

The original story follows…

We already know that Samsung is working on a new smartwatch (probably a successor to the Galaxy Watch or the Galaxy Watch Active 2) and that its four main model numbers are SM-R840/845 and SM-R850/855. Moreover, we had recently spotted the SM-R840 and SM-R850 models of Samsung’s upcoming smartwatch on the MIIT certification platform.

Today, we bring you some new information regarding the upcoming smartwatch from Samsung. We have now spotted the certifications of Samsung SM-R845 and SM-R855 models of Samsung’s upcoming smartwatch on FCC.

Second-generation Samsung Galaxy Watch gets FCC certification

Before we start, let me tell you that the FCC certifications of the SM-R845 and the SM-R855 smartwatches reveal that the upcoming smartwatch from Samsung will have three additional models, SM-R845F, SM-R845U, SM-R855F, and SM-R855U.

Now, there are a ton of documents in the FCC certifications of the SM-R845 and SM-R855 models of Samsung’s upcoming smartwatch. However, the most interesting piece of document that we have come across is the one that has a schematic of the back panel of the SM-R845U model of the smartwatch.

It reveals that the retail name of the Samsung SM-R845U is Samsung Galaxy Watch, confirming the name of the upcoming smartwatch from Samsung. So, the upcoming Samsung Galaxy Watch will not have ‘2’ or ‘2020’ tag attached to the name as everyone was expecting; it will simply be called the Samsung Galaxy Watch.

Furthermore, the schematic reveals that the second-generation Samsung Galaxy Watch (at least the SM-845U) will have a 45mm size with a stainless steel case. It terms of ruggedness, the Galaxy Watch (2020) will come with Corning Gorilla Glass XD protection for the display, 5ATM water-resistance, and MIL-STD 810G certification. Coming to its connectivity options, the second-generation Galaxy Watch will have GPS and LTE (4G) with voice call support. Lastly, the schematic reveals that the smartwatch will be manufactured in Vietnam.

Other certification documents of the next-generation Samsung Galaxy Watch reveal that the smartwatch will have Bluetooth (unknown version) with EDR and BLE support, Wi-Fi a/b/g/n, and 5W wireless charging. One of the certification documents reveals that the model number of the wireless charger of the second-generation Galaxy Watch is EP-OR825.
