Nokia 2.2 With MediaTek Helio A22 SoC, Android One

The Nokia 2.2 has been launched globally by HMD Global today. The smartphone is the successor to the last year’s Nokia 2.1 smartphone. It is more of an incremental upgrade over the previous version. The Nokia 2.2 comes with a 5.71-inch display at 720×1520 pixels resolution surrounded by small bezels and a waterdrop notch on top that houses the selfie shooter.

It is an Android One smartphone based on Android 9 Pie and is already touted for getting the next big upgrade i.e., Android Q. The phone also boasts a dedicated Google Assistant button, just like the other recently launched Nokia phones. Other software features include Digital Wellbeing with Dashboard, App Timers, Wind Down, and the enhanced Do Not Disturb.

Under the hood, a quad-core MediaTek Helio A22 processor powers the Nokia 2.2 with up to 3GB of RAM and up to 32GB of internal storage. For optics, the Nokia 2.2 sports a 13MP rear camera with an LED flash and a 5MP selfie camera on the front with Face Unlock functionality. Both rear and front cameras are geared with AI support including Nokia’s proprietary low-light fusion technology enabling better output for low-light shots. The rear camera also has Google Lens support. A 3,000mAh battery backs the phone.

At its price, the Nokia 2.2 will be facing competition from the existing smartphones like the Realme C2 and ASUS Zenfone Max M1 (review). What’s your take on the Nokia 2.2?
