Nokia 3.1 Plus, an interesting budget Android smartphone with dual camera may launch tomorrow. Interestingly, the smartphone could very well first launch in India. HMD Global appears to be ready with a great budget Android smartphone that would challenge the Xiaomi Redmi 6 Series, Honor 9N, Realme 2, and other similar Android handsets that sport an attractive price. Despite the affordable price tag, the Nokia 3.1 Plus will have octa-core processor, dual cameras, a big battery and other features that buyers expect from a capable budget Android smartphone.

A report about the Nokia smartphone has surfaced which confirms the specifications. Interestingly, these specifications are confirmed because they appear on the back of the retail box of the Nokia 3.1 Plus.

Nokia 3.1 Plus Specifications, Features

The Nokia 3.1 Plus handset is a budget-focused Android smartphone. HMD Global has not confirmed the actual selling price of the handset, but the leaked image of the retail box and the specifications mentioned on the same are ample indicators about the price segment in which the smartphone will fit. Interestingly, despite the budget hardware, the Nokia 3.1 Plus does surprise in a few aspects.

The Nokia 3.1 Plus sports a rather large 6.1-inch HD+ screen with 18:9 aspect ratio. The box doesn’t specify the exact resolution, but the display could have a 720p resolution which is usually 720 x 1520 pixels. The leaked image of the smartphone indicates the presence of narrow bezels.

An octa-core processor powers the Nokia 3.1 Plus. Although, the make and type of the processor isn’t known yet, the handset recently appeared on a Bluetooth certification website. The listing mentioned the device embedded a MediaTek processor. Given the normal range, the processor could be clocked at 1.8Ghz. Given the positioning, the smartphone may have only 2GB or 3GB RAM with 16 or 32GB internal memory.

The Nokia smartphone will have dual camera setup on the back. The primary sensor is 13MP. It works with a 5MP depth sensor. Surprisingly, the budget Android handset has a respectable 8MP front-facing camera.

HMD Globals’ Nokia brand appears committed to the Android One program, and the Nokia 3.1 Plus is no exception. The smartphone is reportedly running Android 8.1 Oreo operating system. Needless to mention, the concept of a pure Android experience devoid of any bloatware, and the promise of timely security and OS updates for a long time, is very appealing.

The Nokia 3.1 Plus is packing a 3,500mAh battery, which presumably doesn’t have any Fast Charging support. The box clearly mentions presence of rear-mounted fingerprint scanner.

Nokia 3.1 Plus: Price, Availability

Nokia is hosting an event in New Delhi, India tomorrow, October 11. It is very likely the company will launch the Nokia 3.1 Plus smartphone at the event. Incidentally, HMD Global has been pricing the Nokia branded smartphones very aggressively. The company has been openly challenging Chinese smartphone makers with the attractive prices and great features.

The company recently launched Nokia 5.1 Plus in India at a very attractive price of just Rs. 10,000. Given the name, the Nokia 3.1 Plus should sport an even lower price. If the smartphone is priced even slightly lower, then it would challenge even the entry-level Android smartphones like the Honor 7S, Redmi 6, Micromax YU Ace and others.
