The Nokia 4.2 and Nokia 3.2 were unveiled at MWC this year alongside the Nokia 9 PureView and Nokia 1 Plus. Since then the two phones have become available in some markets, but their arrival in India remained unclear. With that said, listings for the two smartphones have just gone up on Nokia India’s official site, leading us to believe the launch of these two in the subcontinent should be just around the corner. Let’s take a look at what we know of these phones regarding their specifications and prices.
Nokia 4.2 Specifications, Expected Price in India
The Nokia 4.2 comes with a 5.71-inch TFT LCD display that bears a resolution of 710×1520 pixels and a 19:9 aspect ratio. This screen has been designed with a teardrop style notch on top. Powering the phone is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 439 SoC. It will arrive in two storage options where the base model will offer a 2GB RAM + 16GB storage setup, while a higher priced model will consist of a 3GB RAM + 32GB storage setup. Both models will get microSD card expansion. And of course, the phone will offer a stock Android 9.0 Pie experience to boot. Also, there is a dedicated button to trigger Google Assistant at the side of this phone.
Imaging on the Nokia 4.2 will be handled by a 13MP f/2.2 primary camera that is accompanied by a 2MP depth sensor. Meanwhile, the front of the phone offers an 8MP selfie camera. The battery on this handset measures in at 3000mAh, and it claims to offer up to 18 hours of 3G talk time along with 25 days of 4G standby time. Connectivity options here include Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.2, aptX, NFC, GPS/AGPS/GLONASS/BeiDou, FM radio, microUSB, and a 3.5mm jack. There is a fingerprint scanner on the back of the phone, and users can alternatively choose to secure the phone with Face Unlock via the front camera.
The Nokia 4.2 recently made its way to Malaysia with a starting price of RM599, suggesting its Indian price to be in the vicinity of INR 11,000.
Nokia 3.2 Specifications, Expected Price in India
As for the Nokia 3.2, you get a larger 6.26-inch TFT LCD panel albeit with the same 720 x 1520 pixel resolution as the Nokia 4.2. The battery capacity is also larger at 4000mAh. With that said, this phone runs a marginally weaker Snapdragon 429 chipset under the hood. This is paired with either 2GB or 3GB of RAM with 16GB and 32GB of storage respectively. Imaging on this smartphone is comprised of a single 13MP f/2.2 rear camera paired with a 5MP f/2.2 fixed focus selfie shooter.
Since this is also an Android One smartphone, it offers a stock Android 9.0 Pie experience out-of-the-box. It also gets a dedicated Google Assistant button on its side. Connectivity options remain largely the same Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.2, aptX, GPS/AGPS/GLONASS/BeiDou, FM radio, microUSB, and a 3.5mm jack.
Based on international pricing, the Nokia 3.2 should be priced closer to the INR 9,000 mark.
