Alongside its first-ever 5G smartphone, the Nokia 8.3 5G, HMD Global has also announced a mid-range Nokia 5.3 smartphone. The Nokia 5.3 runs the latest Android 10 OS out of the box. The device comes with up to 6GB of RAM and is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 665 chipset at its helm. There are four cameras sitting at the rear of the Nokia 5.3. Take a look at the price, availability, specifications, and features of the brand new Nokia 5.3 smartphone and see what it has in store for us.
Nokia 5.3: Price and Availability
The Nokia 5.3 is priced at EUR 189 (which roughly translates to somewhere around $202 or Rs 15,110) for the mid-tier variant, which offers 4GB of RAM and 64GB of onboard storage. There are two more RAM variants of the device, whose pricing is unclear for now. The Nokia 5.3 will go on sale globally starting in April 2020.
Nokia 5.3: Specifications and Features
Starting off with the display of the device, the Nokia 5.3 offers a 6.55-inch HD+ display with a tall 20:9 aspect ratio. The device sports a waterdrop notch display. Even after the usage of a teardrop notch and the fact that the aspect ratio is pretty tall, the Nokia 5.3 appears to have thick bezels at the bottom, or at least that’s what it looks like from the official images. The chin, by the way, has the Nokia branding engraved over it. The waterdrop notch makes room for an 8MP selfie snapper. The front camera aids in unlocking the device, as the Nokia 5.3 comes with scope for a facial unlock mechanism. Moving around on the back of the device, the Nokia 5.3 flaunts three finishes – Cyan, Sand, and Charcoal. The device makes room for a quadruple rear camera setup, which consists of a 13MP primary lens, a 5MP secondary camera, a 2MP macro lens, and a 2MP depth sensor.
Under the hood, the Nokia 5.3 is equipped with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 665 mobile platform, which is paired with 3GB/4GB/6GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage. If 64BG of storage is not turning out to be good enough for you, you can always top it up, as the Nokia 5.3 features an expandable storage option via an external SD card. A 4,000mAh battery keeps the lights of the Nokia 5.3 on. Sadly, the device features only 10W of charging, so those of you who want fast charging on their device might be slightly disappointed, but HMD Global claims that the Nokia 5.3 won’t need to be charged too often as it will easily last you two full days on a single charge. Well, this has to be tested first and we can only hope that the Nokia 5.3 delivers the same.
On the software side of things, the nokia 5.3 comes with the latest Android 10 OS out of the box, with Nokia’s promise of at least three years of regular Android updates, so the Nokia 5.3 appears to be at least future-safe from the updates perspective.
