Finnish telecommunication giant Nokia and Indian e-commerce firm Flipkart announced their strategic partnership a few days back to bring Nokia-branded smart TVs for the Indian market. However, both the companies did not spill anything about the product in the press release. But now, that one of the models featuring a 55-inch 4K UHD panel appeared on BIS(Bureau of Indian Standards) certification, it’s fair to say that it will launch soon.
Though Nokia has always been known for mobile phones, the company also used to sell televisions back in their earlier days. Nonetheless, the upcoming Nokia-branded smart TVs will be merely a franchisee product manufactured by Flipkart, similar to Nokia Android smartphones made by HMD Global. Currently, we do not know much about these smart TVs except for a model number and some features reported by Times of India.
According to a BIS certification found by LoveNokia, one of the Nokia smart TV will bear a model number 55CAUHDN. This clearly implies the aforementioned model will arrive with a 55-inch 4K UHD panel but the type of panel is still a mystery. Anyways, there are high chances for it to feature a normal LED panel instead of slightly better QHD panel as found on OnePlus TV Q1 / Q1 Pro.
Apart from this, the TOI report says the Nokia-branded smart TVs by Flipkart will come in 50-inch plus sizes with 4K UHD panel(now confirmed by the BIS certification). These smart TVs will run Android TV 9.0 Pie operating system with support for the Google Play Store and Chromecast. Also, these TVs will feature ‘Intelligent Dimming Technology’ to output a better picture quality than the competitors in real-time by providing better contrast and deep black levels. Interestingly, they will come with speakers tuned by JBL(by Harman), a Samsung subsidiary.
Although Nokia and Flipkart are yet to announce the launch date of Nokia-branded smart TVs, they are expected to make their debut in early December as per the report.
