Last month, HMD Global started rolling out the stable Android 9 Pie update for the Nokia 7 Plus smartphones. The company also confirmed that it would begin rolling out the Android Pie update for its smartphones powered by the Snapdragon 600-series chipsets in October. HMD has kept its promise by pushing the Android 9 Pie beta for the Nokia 6.1 Plus (Review). If you own a Nokia 6.1 Plus and can’t wait for the Android 9 Pie stable update to arrive, you now have the option of trying out the beta build on your device.
Android 9 Pie Beta Now Available for Nokia 6.1 Plus Users
If you are interested in testing the Android 9 beta update on your Nokia 6.1 Plus, you will have to register on the Nokia Phones Beta Labs website. Once you are done registering, you will be able to download and install the Android Pie beta build on your device. However, before installing the update, do make sure that you perform a full backup of your data. Since the beta build is not going to be completely bug-free, some of you may not be too keen on using it as your daily driver. In such a case, you will have the option of rolling back to Android 8.1 Oreo.
If you have not participated in a beta program previously, we would recommend waiting for the stable update instead. Since the public beta has now been released, we expect the stable update to arrive within the next few weeks. Apart from the changes mentioned earlier, the Android Pie stable update will also come with a few other features as well. With App actions, your phone will be capable of predicting your next move and display the right action to help you get things done faster. It will also include ‘slices’, which is a feature that identifies relevant information from your most commonly used apps and makes them more easily accessible.
