Last year’s Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona had HMD Global unveiling five new Nokia phones including the refreshed feature phone – Nokia 8110 4G. We had been expecting the history to repeat itself at this year’s MWC, and HMD Global’s Chief Product Officer, Juho Sarvikas, took to Twitter and announced that the brand will be very much present at the event. This revelation has set our hopes high on the much-awaited launch of the Nokia 9 PureView and also the Nokia 6.2 smartphone.

HMD Global May Launch Nokia 9 PureView and Nokia 6.2 At MWC 2019

It’s been months since we have been talking about the Penta-lens Nokia phone aka Nokia 9 PureView in works. After a slew of leaks, it seems that we will finally get to see the phone at the MWC 2019 on February 24, 2019. The Nokia 9 PureView is expected to come powered by a Snapdragon 845 processor, which may not be too good for the device as most of this year’s upcoming flagships will be featuring the latest Snapdragon 855 SoC.

The Nokia 9 PureView will be the first phone from the company to feature five cameras on the rear geared with PureView, Zeiss solution, and a low-light technology from Light. The brand may also launch a 5G-ready variant, which may come powered by Snapdragon 855 SoC after all. The Nokia 9 PureView is rumored to sport a 5.99-inch QHD PureDisplay panel with HDR10 support and In-display fingerprint sensor. It may pack 6GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage. Concerning software, the phone will most likely ship with Android 9 Pie (Android One).

At the same event, HMD Global could also launch the Nokia 6.2, which has also made it to the rumor mill several times. Some of the reports also alleged that the Nokia 6.2 is a slightly tweaked version of the Nokia 8.1 Plus. The Nokia 6.2 could come with a 6.2-inch display. It may have the Snapdragon 632 SoC powering it with 4GB/ 6GB of RAM. For optics, the phone is tipped to feature 16MP+16MP dual rear cameras from Zeiss. It may also come integrated with OZO Audio technology. Other than the Nokia 9 PureView and the Nokia 6.2, HMD Global could also surprise us with some other mid-range phones aimed at different markets.

Clashing With LG at MWC 2019 On The Same Date

As it comes, LG has also scheduled its MWC keynote for the same day as HMD Global, i.e. February 24, 2019. It would be quite interesting to witness what both the brands bring out at the event and who takes more limelight. LG is expected to launch a new phone with 5G compatibility and Snapdragon 855 SoC. And as we have detailed above, Nokia will be launching more than one phone at the event.

Going by Juho Sarvikas latest tweet announcing the company’s presence at the MWC 2019, we can expect a livestream for the event. It becomes more apparent as through the tweet Sarvikas is asking “to tune into Barcelona MWC showdown.” Well, we can’t wait to see the Penta-lens phone from the brand finally. Stay tuned with us to get all the updates about Nokia.
