Nokia 7.1 and Nokia True Wireless Earbuds Expected to Launch Today, Nokia 7.1 Plus on October 11

HMD Global appears to have stepped up its activities and begun launching its eagerly awaited Nokia branded Android One smartphones. In addition to the Nokia 7.1 smartphone expected to launch today, the company could also launch True Wireless Earbuds that sport the Nokia name.

A public event is scheduled to take place today, October 4, at London. HMD Global could launch the highly anticipated Android One smartphone, the Nokia 7.1, which is not to be mistaken with its slightly better-equipped cousin, the Nokia 7.1 Plus. Incidentally, the Nokia 7.1 smartphone appeared on Amazon Spain, which revealed and confirmed all the specifications and majority of the features of the capable mid-range Android One handset. Interestingly, there are quite a few differences between the handset that appeared in reports and leaks and the final version listed for pre-booking on Amazon.es.

In addition to the Nokia 7.1 handset, HMD Global may just launch true wireless earbuds as well. News about an as yet unannounced wireless headset simply referred to as Nokia Headsets, surfaced recently. It appears information about this in-ear truly wireless earbuds may have reached retailers, and the company may have begun adding the same to retailers’ databases. Let’s look at the confirmed pricing, specifications and features of the devices that HMD Global may launch today in London.

Nokia 7.1 Price, Confirmed Specifications, Features

According to Nokia 7.1 listing on Amazon Spain, the smartphone carries a pre-booking price of EUR 354.87. This translates to approximately Rs. 30,000 in India. Pre-booking aside, the smartphone will go on sale starting October 22.

The Nokia 7.1 sports a 5.84-inch IPS LCD notched screen. Opposed to recent leaks, the smartphone has Qualcomm Snapdragon 636 processor, paired with 3GB RAM and 32GB internal memory. It is quite possible that HMD Global may launch a 4GB RAM + 64GB internal storage variant as well. In either case, a dedicated micro-SD card slot takes up to 128GB card.

The Android One smartphone packs a 12MP+5MP dual-camera at the back, with the 5MP sensor present for depth-sensing purposes. There’s an 8MP front-facing camera for selfies and video calling. The primary camera can record 4K footage at 30FPS while offer HDR feature as well. Besides supporting NFC, the biggest highlight is the clean Android One operating system currently on Android 8.1 Oreo. But the handset should get Android 9 Pie soon.

Nokia True Wireless Earbuds Price, Specifications, Features

The as yet unannounced earbuds are reportedly called “Nokia True Wireless Earbuds V1” and the model number is BH-705. No technical information about these earbuds is available yet. However, the name and certification information suggests truly wireless earphones.

Interestingly, the earbuds cost about Euro 108 or about 100 Euros. This translates to Rs. 8,500 approximately in Indian Rupees. Needless to mention, the price appears rather steep. But surprisingly, retailers are reportedly receiving information about Nokia Active Wired Earphones V2 headphones with a new WH-501 model number. These cost about Euro 30 only, which translates to Rs. 2,500 approximately. As evident from the name, these headphones are wired and should succeed last year’s model.

HMD Global London Event to Include Some Accessories for Nokia 7.1 Android One Smartphone

In addition to the Nokia 7.1 Android One handset, and the True Wireless Earbuds, HMD Global could launch a Flip Cover as well as a Clear Case for the smartphone. Bearing the Nokia brand, these accessories will not be cheap. The Flip Cover, reportedly arriving in Black and Color colors, will cost Euro 11 (Rs. 900 approx.) and the Clear Case will cost Euro 8 (Rs. 700 approx.)

The Nokia 7.1 Plus, on the other hand, could launch on October 11. The Nokia PR team recently sent out press invitation. We at MSP Gear believe HMD Global may launch the high-end smartphone at the event along with Nokia 9 PureView.
