HMD Global launched their mid-range premium smartphone Nokia 7.1 earlier this month at an event in London. As the name suggests, the device is a successor of previously launched Nokia 7. The key highlight of Nokia 7.1 is its premium design, dual rear cameras, and Android One support. Since it is running on Android One platform, we can expect software and security updates to hit this device quicker. The brand is also unveiling the plus variant of the device i.e. Nokia 7.1 Plus, tomorrow in the Chinese market.

Nokia 7.1 to receive Android 9.0 Pie update soon

The successor of Nokia 7 once again made an appearance on the GeekBench listing today, running on the latest version of Android Operating System i.e. Android 9 Pie. The listing clearly suggests a new Android update is on its way for the Nokia 7.1 users. Just like any other GeekBench listing, this one too has benchmark scores. The device scored 1337 in single-core performance and 4877 in the multi-core performance. Other information from the listing falls in line with the announced specifications of the device.

Juho Sarvikas, the Chief Product Officer at HMD Global, recently indicated the expected software update timeline for Nokia 5.1 Plus. According to this tweet, the Nokia 5.1 Plus along with other Nokia devices will receive the software update by the end of this year. Since the Nokia 7.1 has already been surfaced on GeekBench, we can expect the software update to soon hit your devices. On the contrary, HMD Global is in the process of updating all of their older devices. This means the software update might actually take longer than expected. Let’s hope that it doesn’t.
