The upcoming Nokia 7.1 Plus smartphone from HMD Global has been cropping up quite often over the internet. We have already seen official renders of the smartphone, so we know what it looks like. Now, according to a new report, the company has starting sending out invitations for the launch of the device.

The Nokia 7.1 Plus, aka Nokia X7, is a mid-range smartphone. It will be placed just above the Nokia 6.1 Plus, and will launch in China as the X7. In terms of specifications, it will be the successor to the Nokia 7 Plus from earlier this year.

HMD Global has already released the Nokia 5.1 Plus and the 6.1 Plus in India, and both of them have done quite well. Both of these phones have had a similar design, with a notch up front, and a glass back. The new Nokia 7.1 Plus will also have a notch, despite leaks that suggested that it would come with a standard display.

Nokia 7.1 Plus: Launch Date Announced?

As per reports, the Nokia 7.1 Plus launch date is set for October 4. As we said in the beginning, HMD Global, has started sending the media invitations for the event. This event will be taking place in London.

Now, the invite doesn’t really mention Nokia 7.1 Plus by name, but we’re pretty sure that this is what will be announced. The invite just reads that HMG Global will be welcoming a new addition to the Nokia smartphone family. Since there have been numerous leaks on the Nokia 7.1, this is what we expect. And since we’ve already got the press renders for the phone, it is very much likely that this is the phone that HMD will be launching.

There have also been a few leaks on the Nokia 9, but we expect this phone to be announced later this year. We could be wrong though, and HMD could take us by surprise and launch the Nokia 9.

Nokia 7.1 Plus: Specifications, Features

The latest press renders have confirmed a few details about the Nokia 7.1 Plus. We are now sure that the phone will come with a screen notch. It will likely feature a 6.1-inch LCD panel with a Full HD+ resolution and a 19:9 aspect ratio. The renders have also shown us the design, which is similar to the Nokia 6.1 Plus. You get a glass body, with an aluminium frame, which looks pretty premium.

The press renders also confirm that the phone will have a dual-rear camera setup, which isn’t really a surprise. The lenses are made by Carl Zeiss optics, and the camera setup will protrude out slightly. Also seen at the back, is the fingerprint sensor, and the Android One logo. Yes, this will be an Android One phone as well, which means that you will get new software updates faster than other OEMs. The phone could be announced with the latest Android 9.0 Pie on board.

According to all the rumours, the Nokia 7.1 Plus would be powered by the Snapdragon 710 processor. This is a really good mid-range chipset, and only a couple of phones use this currently. You can expect the processor to be paired with up to 6GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage. We are not too sure about the resolution of the rear-cameras, but it should be better than the 12MP+13MP combo on the Nokia 7 Plus. The front camera could be a 16MP sensor.

As for the battery, and other features, we will have to wait till October 4 to find out. The Nokia 7 Plus came with a 3800mAh battery, so this one could be similar or slightly better. It will have 18W fast charging support though. The price in India for the phone is expected to be around Rs. 25,000 or more.
