
The Nokia 7.1 is a really well built and rich in feature mid-range device from HMD Global. It comes with a premium aluminium and glass design, has a display with HDR10 support, dual-rear cameras with Carl Zeiss Optics, and is an Android One device. Nokia did not announce the India launch date, but we expect it to available very soon, with a price in India of around Rs. 25,000. At an event in London HMD Global unveiled this brand new smartphone. We were expecting the company to announce the Nokia 7.1 Plus, but that didn’t happen. Let us talk about the top 5 features of this device.
Nokia 7.1 Display
The display on the Nokia 7.1 measures 5.84-inches in size and sports a Full HD+ resolution with 19:9 aspect ratio. It’s got a notch as well, and is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass. Nokia has included HDR10 support on the display, which means you will be able to watch and stream HDR content. The phone also comes with an SDR to HDR converter, and can adjust its color, brightness and contrast dynamically.
Nokia 7.1 Design
Nokia smartphones are a treat to look at, and the Nokia 7.1 doesn’t disappoint. It uses a 6000 series aluminium frame, which the device is wrapped in from both sides. The phone has diamond-cut chamfered edges, which comes of a different color on each phone. The company uses a multiple fabrication process to make the body durable, tough, and premium looking. It will be available in two color options; Gloss Midnight Blue, and Gloss Silver.
Nokia 7.1 Camera
The camera setup on the Nokia 7.1 comprises of a primary 12MP sensor, which is paired with a 5MP depth sensor. Both sensors use Carl Zeiss optics and come with features such as HDR, live Bokeh, Livestream, Bothie, Pro Camera, and more. The cameras also come with AI features to enhance photography. On the front, there’s an 8MP sensor, which also gets Carl Zeiss optics.
Nokia 7.1 Android One OS
The phone is part of the Android One program, like all the recent Nokia smartphones. This means that the Nokia 7.1 will get fast software, as well as security updates. It comes with Android 8.1 Oreo out of the box, but will soon receive the Android 9.0 Pie update. HMD Global has promised two years of OS updates, and three years of security updates. The Nokia 7.1 is also an enterprise recommended handset.
Nokia 7.1 Hardware
Apart from the above features, the Nokia 7.1 is also a decent mid-range smartphone. It is powered by the Snapdragon 636 processor, and gets up to 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage. A microSD card slot is available with up to 400GB support. It gets a 3060mAh battery, a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor, and Bluetooth 5.0 with Qualcomm AptX support.
