HMD Global has finally started sending out invites for its MWC 2020 event in Barcelona. As per the invites, the event is happening on February 23 at 4:30 local time. The company has not explicitly told the press as to what all it might unveil during the event, but the recent reports suggest that the company will announce a new ‘true’ Nokia flagship. The device will launch later this year. The company will likely announce its first true under-display camera smartphone during the event (which might launch later this year). Alongside that, the Nokia 8.2 and the Nokia 5.2 smartphones are also expected to make their debut.
Nokia 8.2 and Nokia 5.2 Smartphones Likely to Debut at HMD Global’s Event in MWC 2020
The Nokia 8.2 device is tipped to be powered by a mid-range 5G processor, which will most likely be the recently unveiled Qualcomm Snapdragon 765-series SoC. The processor is said to be coupled with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of onboard storage. This time around, Nokia appears to be relying on a pop-up mechanism for the front camera of the Nokia 8.2 phone. Plus, the device is said to sport a rear-mounted physical fingerprint scanner.
The Nokia 5.2 is also expected to make its debut during the event. The device will allegedly be equipped with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 632 processor and will sport a 6.2-inch LCD display. The display of the Nokia 5.2 is rumored to sport a waterdrop notch at the top. The processor will be backed up with 3GB/4GB of RAM and 32GB/64GB of onboard storage options. Lastly, the Nokia 5.2 is said to feature a dual-camera setup at the back.
Both the Nokia 8.2 and the Nokia 5.2 devices are said to run on Android 10 OS under the Android One program. The former will likely retail for under €500, while the latter could be priced at around €169.
Alongside the devices that we mentioned above, the budget Nokia 1.3 smartphone is also reportedly going to make its way to the commercial shelves pretty soon, and the company might announce the same during the event. Speaking of its specifications, the Nokia 1.3 smartphone is said to come with a 6-inch LCD display. Powering the device is likely going to be a MediaTek processor, 1GB of RAM, and 8GB of internal storage. For software, the Nokia 1.3 will rely on Android 10 Go Edition.
Lastly, we have heard some rumors suggesting a new Nokia fitness tracker that could be priced at around €45.
