The Android 9.0 Pie update for the Nokia X5 registers 1,467MB in size and packs December security patch for the smartphone. Being a major and stable update, users better have enough space on their phone before commencing the download. As we have already mentioned in the beginning, this update belongs to the Nokia X5 and is limited to China. We are quite certain that HMD Global is currently working on the update for the global variant.
Nokia X5 aka Nokia 5.1 Plus With Android One
The Nokia X5 was rebranded as the Nokia 5.1 Plus for international markets including India. With the Nokia 5.1 Plus, HMD Global revealed its affinity for notched displays, which was, of course, a part of the streak that caught up with a fair set of OEMs after the release of the iPhone X. The Nokia X5 aka Nokia 5.1 Plus introduced HMD Global’s new all-screen design with a notch. This phone was a part of Android One program, which means that it runs Google-certified stock Android version.
The Nokia 5.1 Plus was launched at INR 10,999 in India. The phone is now retailing at INR 9,999 on several online stores. It features a 5.86-inch display with HD+ 720 x 1520 pixels resolution and 2.5D curved glass. The Nokia 5.1 Plus (Nokia X5) is powered by a MediaTek Helio P60 processor coupled with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of inbuilt storage. The phone has a 13MP+5MP dual-camera setup on the rear with LED flash, PDAF autofocus, f/2.0 aperture, alongside an 8MP selfie snapper on the front featuring 80.4-degree wide-angle Olens and f/2.2 aperture.
Storage on the Nokia 5.1 Plus (Nokia X5) can be further expanded up to 400GB via microSD card. Connectivity options on the smartphone include dual-SIM, 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11ac, USB Type-C (v2.0), Bluetooth v4.2, a 3.5mm headphone jack, and GPS/ A-GPS. A 3060mAh battery backs the Nokia 5.1 Plus.
On the software side, the phone is a part of Google’s Android One program that ensured timely updates for it alongside the goodness of stock Android. The Nokia 5.1 Plus launched with Android 8.1 Oreo out-of-the-box and now with its China variant receiving Pie treat, we can expect the Nokia 5.1 Plus to get a taste of it sooner than expected. Our best guess for the rollout timeline would be sometime by the end of January 2019.
