The Nokia X7, also known as the Nokia 7.1 Plus globally, was unveiled in China on the 16th of October. The device went on pre-orders immediately after its launch, and the shipping was to begin a week after that. However, there is still no information on shipping so far, but the device is now available in an open sale.

The Nokia X7 was announced in three variants in China: 4GB+64GB, 6GB+64GB, and 6GB+128GB. However, only the base model is on open sale currently. The base variant of the device costs CNY 1,700 (approximately INR 18,000), the mid-level variant comes in at CNY 2,000 (approximately INR 21,200), while the 128GB storage variant has a price tag of CNY 2,500 (approximately INR 26,500).

Nokia X7 Availability in India and Expected Pricing

The Nokia X7 will launch in India as Nokia 7.1 Plus and will replace the outgoing Nokia 7 Plus. Nokia hasn’t confirmed exact launch dates yet, but the device should be released by the end of next month. If the device launches in India, it is expected to come with a price tag of INR 19,999 for the base variant and go up to INR 25,999 for the top-end variant, similar to what the Nokia 7 Plus currently costs in India.

Once launched, the Nokia 7.1 Plus will go head to head with the Poco F1 (review) from Xiaomi. Initially, it looks like the Nokia X7 will have a hard time beating the Poco F1, as the smartphone from Xiaomi offers a more powerful chipset, a larger battery, stereo speakers, and couple of other features that the Nokia X7 is missing. However, I believe that Nokia X7 will have a better camera performance opposed to the Poco F1.

People who are confused if they should wait for the Nokia X7 or if they should buy the Poco F1, I’d say if camera performance is your priority then the Nokia X7 may suit you better, if not, you can’t go wrong with the Poco F1. Although, the best course of action would be to wait until the Nokia X7 launches in India first.

Nokia X7 Specifications and Features

The Nokia X7 comes as the successor to the Nokia 7 Plus and offers surprisingly great hardware for its price. Starting with the display, the Nokia X7 has a 6.18-inch IPS LCD featuring Full HD+ resolution. The display is nearly bezel-less and has a notch at the top to maximize the screen to body ratio, which sits at 81.2%. The Nokia X7 has a metal body and a glass back, just like what we have seen on the Nokia 6.1 Plus.

The smartphone comes powered with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 710 processor, which houses octa-core CPU (2×2.2 GHz 360 Gold & 6×1.7 GHz Kryo 360 Silver) and Adreno 616 GPU. As mentioned earlier, the Nokia X7 is available in 4GB and 6GB RAM variants mated to 64GB or 128GB storage chips. The device also offers a microSD card slot to expand the storage up to 400GB. However, you’ll have to sacrifice the second SIM card slot to use the microSD card.

The Nokia X7 is an Android One device running on Android 8.1 Oreo. For your information, Android One is Google’s program, where the device certified with it will get faster updates, and a stock Android UI. The Android One devices are usually considered faster than their same-range competitors, as these devices have less bloatware and high levels of optimization. Currently, all the Android smartphones from Nokia that are on sale in India are Android One certified. You can check out our Nokia 6.1 Plus review to know more about Android One devices.

The Nokia X7 features a 12MP+13MP dual-camera at the rear. This 12MP camera sensor comes with OIS, which is great, considering no other popular smartphones in the same price range are offering this. Apart from OIS, the primary cameras also have dual-pixel phase-detection autofocus, Zeiss lens, and 4K video recording, all of which are offered in smartphones that are costlier than the Nokia X7. At the front, there is a 20MP shooter with f/2.0 aperture.

Powering the Nokia X7 is a 3500mAh battery. The battery supports 18W fast charging, which could probably be the Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0. There is also USB Type-C port, fingerprint scanner, Bluetooth 5.0, dual-SIM card slot, and dual-band Wi-Fi ac on offer.
