Nothing Phone (1) to be Made in India
Nothing will manufacture the Phone (1) in India. The company’s first smartphone will be manufactured in Tamil Nadu and sold via Flipkart. The company’s India top chief, Manu Sharma, confirmed the details with Economic Times (ET). However, Sharma did not reveal any details about the supply chain partner. Local manufacturing should help Nothing keep its cost low, which could translate to a lower launch price compared to the global markets. Soon after the launch on July 12, Nothing’s first smartphone will be available for purchase via Flipkart.
The company has also confirmed some other details of the phone. It will have a transparent back panel. The device’s aluminium mid-frame will be made from recycled materials. Nothing has also confirmed that the phone will support wireless charging.
Nothing has not yet revealed the processor details. However, the rumour mill claims that the smartphone will feature either a Snapdragon 778G SoC or a Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 SoC. The phone is also rumoured to feature 45W fast charging support for the 4500 mAh battery. At the front, the device is said to feature a 6.55-inch Full HD+ display with a 90Hz refresh rate support. The AMOLED display will have a hole-punch cutout at the top centre.
Lastly, the Nothing smartphone is rumoured to launch with a triple-camera setup. It will have a 50MP main camera, an 8MP ultrawide camera and a 2MP macro sensor.
