Nothing Phone (1) Video Confirms Retail Box will not Include a Charger; Here’s Why

Nothing Phone (1) will launch on July 12. The company will launch its first smartphone in India on the same day. Nothing is also accepting pre-orders of the device on Flipkart ahead of its official launch. The company has dropped multiple teasers, hinting or revealing the key features and specifications.

In the latest teaser, the company has partnered with YouTuber Technical Guruji, which gives us a first look at the Phone (1) retail box. The video confirms that Nothing will ship its first smartphone without a charger in the box.

According to the video, the Phone (1) box is made out of recycled materials and uses zero plastic. The sleek, minimal box is aimed towards a sustainable future. The YouTuber stated that the retail box has no elements of plastic. The box uses recycled fibre made of sugarcane, bamboo, etc. The ink for printing text on the box is also made of soybean.


It is not just the box as even some components of the phone’s internals are made of recycled plastic. As confirmed previously, the frame of the device is made of recycled aluminium.

Nothing Phone (1) Specifications

The Phone (1) is confirmed to feature wireless charging support. However, Nothing has not confirmed the charging speed at the moment. The device will also feature fast charging support, and as per the latest leaks, it will be capped at 33W charging. The phone is rumoured to pack a 4500 mAh battery.

Nothing has also revealed that the device will feature a Snapdragon 778G+ SoC. It is rumoured to come with up to 12GB of RAM along with 256GB of internal storage. The Phone (1) will boot Android 12-based Nothing OS on top.

It will also feature a 120Hz OLED display with an in-display fingerprint scanner. The device is rumoured to sport a 6.55-inch Full HD+ OLED panel. On the back, there is a dual-camera setup. The camera module houses a 50MP main camera and a 16MP ultrawide sensor. The Phone (1)’s transparent back also has multiple LED stripes, which house over 900 LED lights. These lights glow when the phone gets a notification or is on charge. Nothing also allows users to customise the lights as per the user’s preference.

The Phone (1) is expected to be priced in India under Rs 30,000. As per rumours, the base variant will be launched globally for $397 (roughly Rs 31,650). More details about the device will be announced on July 12.
