Nothing Phone (2) launch timeline has been revealed. The Carl Pei-founded company launched its first smartphone in July 2022. The highlight feature of the Phone (1) was its unique design language and value-for-money specifications. The phone garnered a lot of hype and attention for its Glyph Interface slapped on a semi-transparent body that was shaped like the iPhone 12 series. The first Nothing smartphone came with a launch price of Rs 32,999 for the base model. It has been a few months since the launch of the first generation Nothing Phone and the company has now revealed some details about the Phone (2).

The company’s CEO, in an interview with Inverse, revealed that the Nothing Phone (2) will debut later this year. Pei did not reveal the exact launch month but confirmed that the phone will launch in late 2023.

Nothing Phone (2) Launch Timeline Officially Confirmed

The Nothing Phone (2) will launch as a successor to the Phone (1). The company’s founder Carl Pei dropped some details about the phone while it is a work in progress. Pei, during the interview, confirmed that the Phone (2) will launch in the US. The phone is also said to launch in “late 2023”. In comparison, the Phone (1) was launched in July 2021.

The Nothing CEO further revealed that the company’s focus, this time around, will be software. Since its inception, the company has focused on providing a premium user experience and as it grew, Nothing hired more people to focus on software.

The upcoming Nothing smartphone is also said to be a premium offering. This hints that the phone might have a higher price tag compared to its predecessor. Pei did not reveal any specifications. He, however, revealed some other details. “We’re developing a smartphone that’s more premium than the Nothing Phone (1) and software will be a big focus area for us,” Pei said.

When asked if the Phone (2) will be a flagship phone that will take on the likes of the iPhone 14 Pro, the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra and the likes, Pei said, “Mobile chipsets have really improved over the last 7–9 years. That’s why I want to avoid calling Phone (2) a flagship because that would mean that Phone (1) was not a flagship. Within our own portfolio of smartphones, the Phone (1) was very much a flagship in terms of the amount of care we put into the product. That’s why I used the word ‘premium’ [to describe the Phone (2)] instead, which signifies that it’s a more premium step up, but it is still a flagship just like the Phone (1).”

Considering how phones are getting expensive due to the rising cost of components, macroeconomic factors, etc., it would not be a surprise if the Phone (2) is priced higher than its predecessor.

It would not be a surprise if the Phone (2) resembles the Phone (1) in terms of design. Maybe Nothing will make some minor changes here and there but the overall aesthetic of the device could be similar. More details about the upcoming Nothing smartphone should surface online soon.
